I'm ready for a new Star Wars RPG

After reading this thread, I realized that for me John Carter of Mars would be a very good fit. Working on a conversion now.

I'm ready for a new Star Wars RPG

I loved the basics of FFGs version of star wars, if I could find a lite version of the genesys system that did away with all the charts and extra stuff, but just kept the basic rolls, I'd play star wars with that system.

    Grade the Modiphius 2d20 System

I found Conan very complex for what I wanted from a pulp genre angle. For me the pulps were broad brushed and I found the complexity at odds with the theme. That said. I had wished that the simplifying they did with John Carter had been applied to Conan. THEN I would have ate that game up...

Pretty good. It is the ONLY RPG I have ever played that reliably creates fiero moments.

    Is "GM Agency" A Thing?

This is exactly why I don't like Masks: a New Generation, as a GM.

    D&D 5E (2014) [+] What can D&D 5E learn from board games?

With respect...i don't think you really understood my argument. Boardgames do not have tactical infinity. The choices are constrained by the game itself severely. Thats what makes them relatively easy to play compared to RPGs. Because in an RPG you technically can do anything. THAT cannot be...

    D&D 5E (2014) [+] What can D&D 5E learn from board games?

heres the obstacle i see though to making TTRPGs more accessible: choices. For a boardgame they are limited. Lets take Candyland for example. You turn comes up, You pull a card, you do exactly what the card tells you do, you deal with the outcome, then turn goes to the next player. At no point...

    D&D 5E (2014) [+] What can D&D 5E learn from board games?

Go back to just spelunking dungeons. Seriously, kinda. Board games are very focused. You can't do "anything". You are constrained. And that constraint leads to easy of learning (sometimes) and play. What it does though is limit replayability. That isn't necessarily a problem, i mean HOW many...

Play Star Trek By Yourself In This New Solo Version of Star Trek Adventures

While I am reading/assimilating these rules I realized that you could offload even more of the work by using the STA Briefs that are offered for free. Each one has like 10 adventure seeds. If i use it I'll report how it goes.

It's Not Easy to Find a Gaming Group

This for me. I have nearly zero tolerance of this. I don't even give a reason anymore. Just kicked out. I say nearly zero because if a player has shown up and gamed with me for awhile I am instead worried about the player.

It's Not Easy to Find a Gaming Group

it sure has, I didn't even expect it too, I just thought it would be a quick way for potential players to get an idea of what they would encounter in my game. In fact it felt kinda like writing a personal ad, except I've never once said "must enjoy long walks on a beach". I think that part is...

It's Not Easy to Find a Gaming Group

Im right there with you. outside of very few options in highschool, I 've never had a face to face group. I've run it for students, but that's NOT the same. Its now been like 12 years of online only. and For a long time I had no vetting process.* Then I tried one. And now I am back to - just...

    Barbie v. Oppenheimer: YOU DECIDE

Just saw Barbie last night. Now I want to see Oppenheimer. BUT I think that Barbie will be the heavier movie. Regardless of how much plutonium Oppenheimer used.

Update: (I feel so dumb) at the top of the modiphius website, there is an option to choose their US store (red banner i believe) THAT is much better shipping (for those in the US that is).

    Capturing the "feel" of Tolkien.

I love TOR. It has gotten me consistently the most ME feel. But stripped of mechanics I think the one way I achieve the ME feel is by leaning into hope. There is a lot of wonder, nostalgia, corruption, and lore -but for me - Tolkien crafted, like all myths before him - a sense of hope. Not...
