Giving Old Skool one last shot before calling it quits.

Man, if only I could find gamers with your philosophy of what D&D should be where I live. Good luck!

    How tough are your adventures?

I selected Challenging. Of the half a dozen or so adventures I've created for 4E so far, I've stuck to the suggested encounter difficulty table in Chapter 6 of the DMG. I find that following that table's suggested number of encounters and their difficulty tends to create very challenging, but...

Forked Thread: Goodman Games NOT nominated?!?: Now Star Wars nominations

I think it is best if I refrain from discussing this topic. I say that based on events in the other thread.

    Goodman Games NOT nominated?!?

Why do you think I don't really think that Star Wars Saga, IN MY OPINION, doesn't deserve nomination as Best Game? It is just MO. I don't think ANY game should be nominated as Best anything that's released with so many errors and poor proofreading. Simple as that. I mean come on, the OSCARS...

    Goodman Games NOT nominated?!?

I am not "trolling". I guess giving my opinion is "trolling"?

    Goodman Games NOT nominated?!?

This will most likely get me in trouble, but once I saw Star Wars Saga nominated for Best Game/Best Product, I lost all respect for the ENnies. Just MO of course.

    Thanks for the help.

    Cleave

Hello, I'm fairly certain I know the answer to this question, but I had a hard time getting the other players in my group to understand this last night. What modifiers apply to the damage an enemy adjacent to you takes when you use the Cleave fighter class power? It is just Strength modifier...

    A 4E magic item conundrum

Oh I see. Are you against rewinding everything and picking the campaign back up right before they start breaking the door down?

    A 4E magic item conundrum

I have no idea. :o Just kidding. My post is relevant because had Morrus' player's characters had the correct amount of magic items for second level characters, they most likely would not have died. Now, how does your post asking me if my post is relevant to the original poster relevant to the OP?

    A 4E magic item conundrum

Actually, it does. Unless, of course, my calculations are off (which is highly likely). At the point where it mentions the characters might have enough XP to level up, each of the Parcels have been awarded.

    A 4E magic item conundrum

Yeah, you're right. In Morrus' case, I think if his second level characters had been awarded magic items as shown on the Treasure Parcel tables there wouldn't be as much of an issue about the new players and magic items. However, in his unique case, where he's diverted from the standard rules...

    A 4E magic item conundrum

Me too. Back when I ran AD&D if a player's PC died, his new character started at first level, unless the rest of the party was above 7th, in which case I'd allow him to create a new character at 3rd. No magic items whatsoever. Now, I'm thinking like you. I try to remind myself that this is a...

    A 4E magic item conundrum

Sure, you can do it that way. But I still argue that the DMG doesn't explain the game that way. My suggestion - if you want to run a game that's easier to maintain - is to follow the guidelines as they're presented in the DMG. If you reverse engineer Keep on the Shadowfell you'll see that the...

    A 4E magic item conundrum

Well sure, you can run the game that way. But that's not what the DMG teaches.

    A 4E magic item conundrum

Hi Morrus, I say that because it seems to me that the game designers have built the game's challenges (monsters, traps, etc) around the assumption of characters' power access (class powers, feats, magic items, etc.) based on character or party level. A party of five second level characters is...

    A 4E magic item conundrum

It is very important - IMO - that DMs follow the rules for Treasure Parcels. It sounds like your 2nd level characters were way behind the rules in regards to magic items.

Level 1 combat-heavy one shot 4e game. Help?

I always like the "gladiators surviving the arena" set-up for quick, one shot, battle heavy sessions.

    Posting Fan Created Adventures

Hello, Is this the place to post fan created adventures? If so, would I just post the entire adventure into a post? Would it be OK if I just advertised the adventure - plot, level, etc. - and then direct folks to a blog that has the adventure? I'm just curious about how this is done. I'm...
