For sure... also the fact that, knowing we just started printing spell decks in 3.0 (which sold in WoTC stores) they never gave us a heads up about 3.5 we were suddenly looking at a warehouse full of unsellable spell decks.

At fedex/kinkos you want to ask them to "saddle staple" it, they have a machine just for that

You can take a flash drive/chip and print it on your own.. Once printed, they will bind it I use to work at kinkos

The have a friend print it out for you... You never have to 'see' the PDF :p

I use my windows tablet..... But apparently some people freak out at the idea of a PDF.... Thus my printer/computer combination suggestion Crazy, I know

never mind the fact that players will reverse engineer the monsters in the box set and write a guide to tweak the playtest monsters within a week of release :p

we at paradigm concepts looked into pricing for box sets.... trust me, they are making almost nothing on the new into box.. heck, at 20 bucks they may be simply braking even...

That's the DM's fault.. Social encounters can be as dangerous as any combat encounter... hell, they can be worse. Aspects/traits/bonds/whatever SHOULD get the players in trouble, when used right create complications which can not always be defeated with a sword. Reward those choices, reward...

Go all FATE with them..... come up with some fate point system where the players can gain points if they follow their quirks/flaw/ect. Not hard to do.. If 5e is open I fully intend to write up a system with an expanded flaws system and put that puppy up on RPG now. :P

You should try doing both... I commonly do the same "big picture" story but I make sure to seed the campaign with subplots that take place along side the main story. Subplots are inspired by personality quirks, don't fight them.. use them, weave them into the story... side adventures now...
