Does anyone put out battlemaps or terrain markers for 3e?

I've used the flip chart paper to draw out things like taverns and stables. Anything that I want saved, or think I can reuse in a future session can be easily saved on chart paper without worries about staining the battlemat. They have special, "chart markers" that won't bleed through the...

Ongoing Campaign, New PC: What Level?

If you look at the XP progression, lower level characters will tend to catch up to the rest of the group (assuming all characters receive the same XP each session). So, I have no problem making new characters below the level of the rest of the group.

Advice for a newbie to GenCon?

Keep a bottle of water with you and refill at all the water fountains. A shoulder sling for your bottle is a nice plus. I find a backpack preferable to the numerous shopping bags you might end up with from the exhibit area. I prefer to set aside one day for shopping as early as possible, as...

Does anyone put out battlemaps or terrain markers for 3e?

Dungeon tiles are available which are essentially cardstock pieces with a dungeon floor/wall look to them. Skeleton Key Games is the company that makes them IIRC.

Well, at least I got more than one vote. :)

    Chicago Gameday - The Aftermath

Hey, Matty! Sign me up! Slot 1, game 3, Tales of Wyn D'mere Slot 2, game 4, Rokugan For both GMs: I don't have any character preferences. Just give me whatever will best balance the party. Many thanks to Eric Noah's generosity at a previous gameday, I will be able to read up on the...

Dwarf Wizard, how to play him?

Well, I kind of had this whole secret dwarven clan idea going for a bit when I developed my dwarven wizard. A clan that lived in very tall mountains and worshiped a god of the sky (not Moradin?) had learned their magic by studying the stars. But something terrible happened long ago, and it...

    Magic Items with "Quirks"

You got the prototype invisibility ring all wrong. It's only the user that can't see himself. Everybody else sees him just fine. :)

    Assassin's Home Precautions

Magic is always going to be a major pain. That's why it's magic. There are precautions like disguises and escape routes I mentioned earlier. As an assassin, your goal is never to confront people face-to-face and have a fight to the finish. You are in permanent stealth mode, with the...

    Chicago Gameday - The Aftermath

Is this thread not bumping to the top anymore, or is it just me? *edit* Well it worked this time. But not with my above post. Odd.

    Chicago Gameday - The Aftermath

I've been hesitant to sign up for any games just yet. There are things in the works that could alter my weekend plans. I'll certainly talk to my regular group and see if they are interested in coming. If anybody else is holding off, please just make a courtesy post, and maybe Matty can put up...

How would you make Humanoid Tribes distinctive? [Request for Campaign Help]

Decide on a degree of civility for each different tribe. Who holds the authority over the tribe and how does that individual hold their power? What does it take to take over leadership of the tribe? How do they engage in war differently from other tribes? Zulu witch doctors would give...

Tell me what's so good about life

Having paid my dues as a psychology undergrad, I can firmly say that there is good, solid advice already here. If you don't want to call the FREE crisis center in your area (just pick up the phone and dial '0'), then you can just bug me for a while. I'll send you an email.

    gaming group compatability

If you are hung up on the fact that they have different political/religious views, and that gets in the way of the game, or makes you uncomfortable, speak up. Gaming for 3 years with anybody should build something of a relationship. As long as everyone is contributing to the fun of the group...

    Assassin's Home Precautions

For the truly paranoid assassin, always wear a disguise. Change faces after each job. A ring of alter self, or a hat of disguise can really pay off for any criminal. A new disguise is essential after every meeting with anyone who can accuse you or create problems with your identity. To be...

Which of the following Convention Games would you want to play?

I like the ships idea best. I'm trying to build a wooden ship template to use for gaming myself. A full-on model would just be too much work. Now I just need a couple dozen undead pirates! :)

Do you buy d20 Modern pdfs?

If I know a product is coming out in print, I will wait for it rather than buy a PDF. Why not get a better binding and a nice cover for a few extra dollars? I haven't really looked too much into d20 Modern PDFs, but that is mostly because I'm not playing a modern game right now. It isn't...

    Confrontation Earth Elemental

I have this mini. Never did figure out what that triangle piece was supposed to be. Perhaps it was a token for spells in the game or something, but it had what looked like a cut out slot in it. One of these days I'll even get around to painting it.

    PC-cide

Whenever stuff like this comes up, I prefer to see it discussed and handled in character. It may come down to pointing out the obvious "plan" the group has developed. If the character doesn't function well in the group, then by all means abandon him or "fix" him if necessary, but do it all in...
