[Updated] Chris Sims & Jennifer Clarke Wilkes Let Go From WotC

This is why we lamented the sale of WOTC to Hasbro in the first place. Corporate America is broken. There is no investment in people anymore. If Paizo can run a private company twice the size of the D&D division without layoffs it's fairly obvious that something is amiss at Hasbro WOTC. I just...

Ambient Fear and Terror - Optional Rule

Thanks Redthistle! I am going to update the fear so there's two different types. One "ambient" and one "present". I think they should operate a tad differently and will help clear up any confusion. There was some confusion at my table last night, so I want to make it clearer. Also, I would not...

Ambient Fear and Terror - Optional Rule

Yeah, I think level 5 is most fearsome. I max out DCs at 30. With the double save on Terror, wouldn't that only happen once in a great while? I mean if you have a game that features some horror elements (like mine does), do you feel it's a playable rule?

Ambient Fear and Terror - Optional Rule

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_lJhbSwBglnWVctajViTkgyaU0&usp=sharing Here is my take on Fear (called Ambient Fear) and Terror. This is version 1 (rough draft). Let me know what you think! Again, I am play-testing this, but more people involved will make a more solid option!

    D&D 5e: Injury Special Condition

I updated to version 3 including a save now that can limit Injury to one level per combat. Let me know what you think! https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_lJhbSwBglnWVctajViTkgyaU0&usp=sharing

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

Check out Atomik Psioniks, it's a generic plug in for any game system. The free "how to use" document shows you how you can use the Atomik supplements with level-based and d20 based systems.

How do you feel about nudity in RPG books?

I find your all-inclusive statement and admonishment to be absurd. I appreciate that you nor your group wants to play a Hentai game. Awesome! Lots of people don't like sex in their adventure games nor would they like to explore erotic themes in their games. But if a bunch of adults get together...

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

On the subject of "Savage Worlds is eating up GURPS 4e market because #oldness" - no. No no no. SW is a light fast game. This market is largely comprised of aging adults who no longer have time to prep or deal with complex games. Not only is SW lighter and faster to pick up, but plot point...

    D&D 5e: Injury Special Condition

That's an excellent point. I wonder if assigning levels of injury at the end of combat would allow us to introduce something like a save for half? Example: During combat take a "potential injury" for each event (from that list). At the end of combat make a CON save vs. DC 10 + 5 per potential...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why D&D? - Complexity is not fun for me

    Awesome ideas! Thanks for sharing.

    D&D 5E (2014) Why D&D? - Complexity is not fun for me

I think using D&D 5e as a model, I could create new classes with the three Archetypes for other genres or settings. You could splice in setting specific options and then restrict core classes that don't fit. Instead of the "kitchen sink" approach, a tailored approach with the appropriate...

    D&D 5e: Injury Special Condition

D&D 5E (2014) Specific overrides general: a general rule, or a specific rule?

While debating the nuances of "common verbiage" and how they apply to "rules enforcement" you generally fail to (passively) notice your impending doom, are surprised and promptly eaten by a specific rule. Please roll up a new character. Let's go with something LESS... let's call it "INT...

How Best to Turn My PHB into a Paperback?

Hit up Staples. Have them use their cutter to trim (closely) the end binding off. This should separate the covers and all pages. Try and get the book pages "aligned" at the binding before they cut it. Then you have a couple options. Option 1: Spiral or comb bind the pages. They "might" be able...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why D&D? - Complexity is not fun for me

I suppose if my revelations are too verbose to ponder through, I can summarize; I'm getting back to my roots. I like the new edition of D&D. I'm going with simpler rules because complexity hasn't helped me find what I thought I wanted, takes too long to make characters and has likely irritated...

    D&D 5e: Injury Special Condition

I like the HD option! I will state again, I really don't like the Lingering Wounds option in the DMG. Different strokes and all that. Just too stark and specific for me. I'm thinking with each level of Injury you take a level of Exhaustion (works the same as the rules, a long rest reduces by...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why D&D? - Complexity is not fun for me

So, I've come full circle. I'm back with my first love - D&D. This is my "why". It's important for me to share, as my hope is to provide insight into the mind of a habitual system-addict, manic seeker of the "perfect medium complexity depth because #feelings" RPG and perhaps help other...
