I don't know about the rest, but I'm fairly confident that we would have had some kind of OSR. It was born out the retro-clone games and those were in "reaction" to 3rd Edition and the abandonment of TSR-era D&D rules by WotC.

The thread is from 2004 and it was talking about 3.5 rules, not 5th edition.

How can you give inspiration once per turn? Heroic Warrior triggers only if you don't currently have inspiration. OTOH, you can give out inspiration only if you gain it while already having it. Unless I misread the rules.

My participation is not intense, but I'd like to continue.

Personally, I never really liked papyrus and parchment is right out. Only clay tablets for me.

WotC has not published a PDF in several years. All digital products are released through D&D Beyond.

Phantom Menace has several issues, but I still like it and it is my favorite among the prequel trilogy.

Well, if we look at History, it is a natural evolution. First, we had War Communism, then the NEP followed and later we had the five-years plans.

GURPS Lite is very easy, approachable and understandable, IMHO.
