don’t they have different core books for the different settings? It might be all under one general system, but they are still separate instances of it (kinda like Cypher or Savage Worlds) or am I misunderstanding that?

eh, ToV already has the changes you mentioned and WotC shied away from. I am not waiting another 10 years for them to catch up to that. If that is all that 6e manages to do, they have fallen farther behind the curve by then and I will ignore it, just like I am ignoring 2024. To each their own...
