    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

the categorizations sound accurate, you could add Shadow of the Weird Wizard as a more aggressive redesign of 5e as well (and one I prefer over 5.5) Tales of the Valiant as an alternative to 5e / 5.5 for those who like D&D but are fed up with WotC / Hasbro (I might start to fall into that...

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

nothing wrong with that, just not like how that post read to me. It did not sound excited for anything in particular, just tired of stuff they have been doing for 30 years

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

sounds like a lot of words for 'I am bored with the stuff I have done for 30 years already'?

they made $50k or less with 1000 or even only 400 backers, that hardly anyone plays them or has heard of them seems to be the logical conclusion

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

I don't know, I want more than 100 one shot ideas from WotC. The DMG approach is too bare bones for me, my own stuff can be at that level because I do know more anyway, but from a published adventure I expect more

    Shadowdark Finally Played Shadowdark

since you seem to want something that has a bit of OSR DNA, maybe give Land of Eem a chance https://landofeem.com/what-is-land-of-eem/ https://www.exaltedfuneral.com/pages/land-of-eem https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/517422/land-of-eem-deluxe-set-bundle It's pretty modern, with...

What are your thoughts on TTRPGs with non-standard dice?

It discourages me from taking a closer look at the game and generally feels gimmicky more than like a genuine design need (funky dice). Regular dice with special icons on them I can take or leave, they are mapped to ordinary dice easily enough

they seem to understand that with their print + digital bundles at least, possibly with the FR digital bundle too, depending on what the DLCs will cost individually

    D&D General D&D: Literally Don't Understand This

yes I do not see this as a conclusion or this Wanting the fantasy feel to not be too modern in a game to me does not mean anything wrt real life. Most such people have not joined the Amish, and if they did, they are not posting here ;)

closer to the first than the second. When this came out I simply ignored it. I also did not start the topic, but since it is going on already I see nothing wrong with posting in it.

    D&D General D&D: Literally Don't Understand This

eh, to me it stays too close to the modern real world for its settings. If that works for you, great, it is not what I am looking for

    D&D General D&D: Literally Don't Understand This

no, I focused on what I consider to be its central flaw… so you are telling me that the only way for ‘ethnic groups to use their history and experiences’ is for said groups to 1:1 just replicate the setting they lived in, say, 100 years ago with minimal fantasy flourishes? They cannot use their...

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

We do know it was before 2022 however, and losing 200k in 2022 while having 400 people work on BG3 is meaningless, it certainly is nowhere near ‘brink of bankruptcy’ territory that you want it to be at

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

they could not make BG3 without approval, in that sense they did 200k loss means you are basically breaking even on sales of your old games while at peak development of the new one, that is a pretty good spot to be in for an independent studio crowd funding with DOS2, outside investment with...
