that usually is a function of the company being smaller, not so much its shareholder structure these kinds of shareholders also do not make any of the business decisions. if anything I would the expect the opposite to be true. A private company still serves the shareholders, that does not change, the only thing changing is that they have considerably less oversight and public reporting requirements, and probably serve their shareholders’ interests more than...

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

maybe, but then the stuff that helps with the TTRPG golden age, like KS or itch.io for small publishers, is all from 2010 or newer. If there is a golden age due to the internet, that is after 2010, not in the 1990s

I agree with that, but that doesn't mean I was not expecting MTs in Sigil. That WotC did not shout their inclusion from the rooftops is not exactly proof of anything I agree with that too, but just because the 'everything will' part is not true does not mean there is not a direction WotC wants...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

I mean, I like 2024 less than 2014, see my post with my vote. Heck, I moved from 5e to SotWW and ToV. I do not think I am part of the majority though or that the majority dislikes 2024, and it is still quite a bit from dislike to hate too. Say 30% dislike 2024 and 10% hate it, that still makes...

not knowing the cost structure is not the same as not knowing whether there will be microtransactions. I am not even sure they did not have one in mind, Sigil just never got to the point where this would have become relevant. Sigil did not fail because of the cost structure but because they 1)...

no so what, just to counter the 'they never said anything about / planned and microtransactions' a bit it also still is a microtransaction... there are plenty games that offer purely cosmetic ones

Their microtransaction dreams imploded alongside Sigil, not that those would have ever gotten them to the 1B mark
