    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

it wasn’t a bad idea then and it isn’t a bad idea now. I have my issues with the execution of that idea (to me the playtest as conducted is flawed, but gives WotC an idea of what is really unpopular regardless - and I suspect that this is all they really want from it in the first place, or they...

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

not sure what is suspect about it, some people did not like 4e and did not play it as a consequence, that is exactly that principle. WotC did not like the reduced sales, so tried to design a game that would bring those people back with 5e, and started having playtests to ‘ensure’ that this time...

run in and draw fire is pretty much the opposite from staying the heck away so you cannot get hit though, as mentioned in the post that started this sidetrack...

yeah, killing on a later turn means I eventually have to do something other than avoid getting hit, in which case I might as well do so now already. Relying on others to solve the problem for me works as long as there are others and they do not follow the same failing strategy of avoiding...

D&D 5E (2014) Ben Riggs talks to Richard Baker. Phandelver in 2018 alone sold 300k copies.

Either find the starter box (used at this point, it is out of print), or the Shattered Obelisk book, the first part is 95% the Lost Mine, with minor adjustments

Except that if I do not buy a ticket, I am not losing anything but the possibility of winning the lottery. If I do not fight, I am losing the fight. Buying the ticket is gambling, fighting when someone is going to punch you no matter what is not

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

and yet the blurb says the defiler withers plants while the features never do that. My two complaints were entirely about the text in the UA, not about any relation to DS If someone goes further in their feedback, then WotC should be able to handle that

If all I ever do is try to avoid bring hit, I am not winning the fight. I might not be closer to losing after a round, but I am 100% going to lose in the end

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

how they address the feedback is up to WotC, but a druid ‘restoring’ the land for a minute would be better off doing literally anything else to restore the land, if the goal was to actually restore / improve it absolutely agree, it’s a waste of time. The only reason to ever do this is anything...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

if WotC is incapable of 1) presenting the proper context for the class in the UA or 2) figuring out what feedback to use in which way based on what they provided and what the feedback says, then WotC has no one to blame but themselves There certainly is no point in those giving feedback to...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

we can certainly use those, that basically is what the blurb is for to begin with. WotC can then decide what to do with the feedback. Also, saying a druid restoring some area for a minute is not really doing anything remotely useful or akin to what you would expect a preserver to do is...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

nothing wrong with that, saying a class does not match its fiction is valid feedback too. At no time did WotC say the feedback has to be limited to the class features. If anything, they said it is not about getting feedback for their balance. If WotC does not care for that feedback, they can...

10+ years ago is not now, they have what, 10% of the 5e players? Any discussion will be amplified by the size of the audience, and people that are unhappy are much more likely to say something than those that aren’t, so really no surprise here

if all you do is roll 3d6 or so six times, yeah, maybe not that much faster. Someone invariably rolls badly however and does not like what they rolled, and that is where more complicated methods come in to avoid this. As I wrote, simplicity and speed, not just speed. To me rolling has only...
