D&D General Ravenloft, horror, & safety tools...

Identifying lines 'n' veils is extra necessary for horror games. Cause you're trying to unnerve and get right to the edge of comfort. But knowing them is good for all games Hand signals are also a good tool. Having hand signals that can be used in place of cards in virtual games, and safety...

WotC So, when do the announce the July book? Guesses on what it'll be? 🤔

There's sidekicks up to 16 or 17th level on dndbeyond.com Edit: And they say in the "Who We Are" blog it takes 12-14 months to make a book. TASHA'S CAULDRON OF EVERYTHING was released almost two years after the sidekick rules were playtested. They're not playing 4D chess. Or trying to...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Needs New Settings

Not sold on new official settings There's dozens of great unofficial game books. The news page is advertising one by some dudes from Blizzard right now Anyone can do that But only Wizards can make a Greyhawk or Hollow Earth book

WotC So, when do the announce the July book? Guesses on what it'll be? 🤔

They said in their podcast it was for ESSENTIALS KIT. And was likely popular enough to reprint. And they changed sidekicks pretty heavily based on feedback from the KIT It's quite possible if they have a kit or boxed set with new rules options they'd be in UA first

WotC So, when do the announce the July book? Guesses on what it'll be? 🤔

They tested the sidekick rules for the ESSENTIALS KIT.

WotC So, when do the announce the July book? Guesses on what it'll be? 🤔

He never says book tho. Winninger says "product" and "project." Could be another starter box like RICK AND MORTY or STRANGER THINGS or something like the WILDERNESS KIT

WotC So, when do the announce the July book? Guesses on what it'll be? 🤔

That never made it into a UA. There's also goliaths in RIME OF THE FROST MAIDEN. But also untested Closest was the ship combat rules in GHOSTS OF SALTMARSH0 Four brand new ancestries seems like a longshot. Not impossible, but unlikely

WotC So, when do the announce the July book? Guesses on what it'll be? 🤔

Have we ever play tested anything that ended up in the summer adventure? Seems like the fey and dragon content will be for the fall book. Or for next spring's book Or for something entirely new. Like a boxed set for young players set in the Feywild. Cause Wizards loves their starter sets and we...

D&D 5E (2014) Why are potions of healing so expensive?

The average commoner has 4 hp A potion heals 2d4+2 for a minimum of 4 and average of 7 If you were dying, literal seconds from death after an accident, how much would you pay to have all your wounds instantly healed?

WotC So, when do the announce the July book? Guesses on what it'll be? 🤔

Wasn't that based on teased images? Feels less like a leak and more like viral hype And knowing it was set in Icewind Dale and knowing it was about eternal winter and the Frostmaiden and some ancient frozen city is something else entirely

D&D 5E (2014) What's your ideal product release schedule over the next few years?

The current schedule seems dope Three products by Wizards and one by outsiders seems like more than enough. A winter-spring reprint or wildcard adventure, a summer storyline adventure, a fall splatbook, and a miscellaneous product in the spring-summer by freelancers or an outside studio. Like...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sane Magic Item Prices

No idea how you could pick a set price for a magic item A Longsword +1 seems like a good baseline. But should it be more or less expensive than a Rapier +1 that uses the better to-hit stat? Is it the same price when no one in the party hits off Strength and they just want to unload it cheap? Is...

WotC So, when do the announce the July book? Guesses on what it'll be? 🤔

Expect we'll get an announcement sometime in May. Likely be an adventure. The summer product is always an adventure. The big storyline with miniatures n junk. Probably also doubling as a guide book to a region. No idea what that'll be. Most of my guesses have been wrong. Nobody expected RIME OF...

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Draconic Options

You're not disagreeing. You're explicitly saying I'm wrong A discussing creates a back and forth conversation. Telling someone they're wrong just attempts to shut down the discussion

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Draconic Options

As I said they could state that creatures immune to being frightened are immune. Or immune to being charmed. Simple and allows iron and clay golems to be unaffected by warforged to be susceptible You're making this a much harder fix than it needs to be for no good reason

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Draconic Options

But Charm Monster and Dominate Monster don't. Because the game saddles the line between sim and abstract The flavour of this feature is that you're doing something that mentally affects the monster. It feels like an oversight that it can mentally affect an ooze Which is the whole dang point of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Draconic Options

Which just leads to weirdness when it overlaps with monsters that aren't easily distracted. Like the iron golem I referenced before. Or a zombie. Or a gelatinous cube. Is the cube affected? Can it even hear the kobold? It is immune to being deafened after all It's weird because creatures need to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Draconic Options

Under Condition Immunities. They're immune to being Frightened Frightful Presence makes the enemy Frightened And as you point out they have Magic Resistance so they'd also have advantage on the save against any magical effect But none of that would prevent a kobold from yelping at them like a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Draconic Options

Frightful Presence also won't affect an iron golem. But a kobold a third of its size screeching at it like a scaly Post Malone will.

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Draconic Options

The flavor text of the kobold says "The roar of a kobold can express a range of emotion: anger, resolve, elation, fear, and more. Regardless of the emotion the kobold expresses, the roar resonates with draconic power." So not just fear And the idea of demoralizing with elation is just hella...
