Unfortunately some of my players are only TOO wiling to backstab... they don't do it too often, thanks to houserulings. Once in a while we play full-out Neutral or Evil parties where the campaign is completely based around the players backstabbing one another :D. Alliances, pacts, etc...all...

Thank you for some much-needed reason on these boards! Let me just emphasize one of your points: This is YOUR game. WotC can call things whatever they want, or have a race look a certain way, or change how a particular spell works (fireball comes to mind), but your group can do WHATEVER it...

I hear that the mods of Meta know how to cast a Maximized Thread. They say that's how the hivemind is dead thread got so enormous. Is it true that you mods can cast metathread spells?

Well, Vizier was a title similar to Major Domo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Ancient_Egyptian_titles has some stuff, but not all related to aristocratic rank. Some are things about priests and the like.

Two things: Critical threats happen pretty often, especially with weapons that can crit on more than just a 20 People remember (and then write about on their gleemax blogs) critical hits, because they're exciting!

I know that attacking into a grapple with ranged weapons has an equal chance of hitting any of the grapplers, but what about with melee attacks? What about if you are attacking a pinned character? Gah, I hate the grappling rules.

I wanted to ask the ENWorld community (or, shall I say, Hivemind) about the very best gaming stores in the Boston area. I've been thinking of getting some friends gaming-related presents for the holidays.

I know there are some deliciously evil stories out there about what DMs have pitted their players against, and I'm all for hearing them. I'm only a pre-RBDM, so I haven't gotten around to tooooo much evil yet. I'd love to hear your evil stories. Remeber, guys, RBDMs aren't flat-out tyrants...

The classic, more fantasy-style term for 1000 men would be a Legion. If it's essentially an enormous mob of warriors, the term would be Horde or Host.

Same thing happens in my group :P I think it's a problem that many DMs suffer, but we know that somewhere the players are thankful. They usually thank me by easily bypassing encounters that I spent hours piecing together...

So far it's looking like the average is above five, but that could change.

Or you could go with the classic trick of making an ooze out of jello...I've done it, and it's lots of fun. Keep a bunch on hand if you're doing this though, because if a PC is sucked into the ooze and then escapes, digging the mini out of the jello destroys the shape. Just give the escaping...

How about a tortured half-celestial or planetouched? A real opportunity for villains. Maybe a half-celestial paladin that they try to turn into a blackguard?

Before I answer, at what level to you expect the PCs to be when they are questing for the Orange mcguffin?
