D&D General Should a low level character know to burn a troll?

If you are into the acting/drama side. My guys would be like "we already know this, lets get on with it!" Of course, but sometimes the Trolls are just kicking your butts, people are down etc. It was a hypothetical.

D&D General Should a low level character know to burn a troll?

There is a solution unfortunately the PC can't make their skill check. Me I'd expect them to use fire and acid right off the bat as I planned it, or rolled it on a random encounter chart. Or would you have put an out in there in case they couldn't roll a skill check? Its possible they are not...

D&D General Should a low level character know to burn a troll?

So for DM that are strict about no player knowledge. Your party is struggling against the trolls, its looking like a TPK since they can't keep them down. Every player knows what to do but they can't make the skill check to employ that information. Do you fudge something to help them or just...

Consent in Gaming - Free Guidebook

I haven't made a value judgment on the topic beyond my table is not the target audience for this. I have just commented on basic respect issues and not being a dick if you know its not cool. I'm sure there is a percentage of tables this will work for, or maybe at Con games. And if so good for...

    Constructive Criticism for Your GM

On game night there are usually 2-3 bottles of whiskey on hand and beers. And maybe the odd smoke.. then again we are hacking and slashing our way across Oerth so it doesn't interfere with deep roleplay.

For me if someone invited a new player and the rest said OK and this stranger suddenly changed the table dynamic to where we have to tiptoe around triggers is a lot different than if my buddy Tom suddenly said he was too afraid of spiders to have them in game. In the first I'm more thinking...

I think the dynamic is totally different depending on gaming with friends or random people. Most are far more likely to accommodate those they know. Especially if the request is going to mean removing elements that most enjoy in the game.

    Constructive Criticism for Your GM

I ask for feedback all the time...usually its whining and mewling about how adventuring is too deadly so I ignore it and tell them to suck it up or roll up farmers. but honestly I'll take criticism and give it all the consideration it is due. Unless I've been on the rye again.

D&D General Should a low level character know to burn a troll?

I'm not going to expect a player to do the wrong thing 1d6 times before doing what he knows is right. But as DM I don't care about metagaming for the most part or worry about player knowledge vs character knowledge. They are players playing a game, I expect them to use what they know.

Child abuse in regards to Dungeons and Dragons IRL, how should such things be handled.

I hope you don't inflict the nightmare that is being investigated by Child Protective Services on that family over them not wanting the kid to play D&D. You could well destroy that family by doing that.

    How Expensive is Too Expensive?

I bought the 50 dollar PDF of Rappan Athuck for S&W because it much more user friendly than the 100 dollar hardcover. Still kind of shocked I spent that much on a PDF...

    How Expensive is Too Expensive?

Though that will drive down sales. Will the increased pricing make up is the question. While I'm calling out the cheapness in gamers I know I do have a limit on what I'll spend on a book. And 250 is far above it. 60 bucks I think is around what I'll spend for a rule book, but this product...

    How Expensive is Too Expensive?

How expensive is too expensive? Well if it doesn't sell then it was probably too expensive. The market will decide that. Apparently the market will support this product so its not too expensive.

    How Expensive is Too Expensive?

I like how people think its an "issue" that some products are premium priced. Like they are entitled to a copy of it. Then again this is the age of entitlement. You can't afford it? Well there are a lot of other games out there. Or have your group all pitch in. Personally I'd never spend...
