    D&D 4E WotC Greg: 4E Campaign Report Part 2

I thought that at first, but the story in the game that led to the angel coming after them seems perfectly fine even under the old paradigm that angels are the good guys.

What books describe a good magical world?

I think it more likely that even if they know how to handle this it determines a style of play or flavour that they simply don't enjoy. This thread reminded me of this post by Monte in regards to Demon God's Fane where he talks about keeping higher level magic in mind when it comes to designing...

    D&D 4E WotC Greg: 4E Campaign Report Part 2

I'd be interested to know why Greg feels he can use an angel as an adversary in 4E while he didn't feel comfortable doing so in 3E. He mentions this in the previous blog talking about the same encounter and doesn't really explain how or why 4E changes his opinion on it. I'm also kind of...

    Pramas: D&D his way??

This hasn't impressed me so much as it has me regarding 4E D&D as something other than 4E D&D, if you know what I mean. Once you strip away enough of the identity of a game you're making a different game. In my opinion they've pushed this too far with 4E based on what we know, but as always...

    Pramas: D&D his way??

Chris has summed up where I'm at regarding D&D at the moment. I don't like where 4E is going. I'm not so keen on Pathfinder RPG. I'm also not so keen to just keep on keeping on with 3.0/3.5E. I'm willing to wait and see how 4E turns out and what shape Pathfinder RPG eventually takes before...

    Bards: Arcane or Shadow?

I actually would have liked the Bard to be a martial leader. Someone like Gurney Halleck.

    Rodney Thompson on Multiclassing

Not a lot there on multiclassing as it relates to 4E. I'm not sure if I'm reading more into what he's written than is actually there but he does seem to imply that some planning is needed to prepare for paragon paths similar to making sure you'll be able to tick off all the requirements for a...

Points of Light approach to setting

They're designing the new default setting as a PoL setting. I don't think they intend to force all of their existing settings into the style of a PoL setting. Of the settings D&D has seen I'd say Dark Sun might be the most extreme example of a PoL setting. The land is harsh and the wilderness...

    Undead subject to sleep?

My immediate reaction is similar: it just doesn't seem right that sleep should work on undead. That reaction, however, is based on experience and many years of conditioning from previous editions of D&D.

DDI Character Visualizer to have bust slider

They certainly do. I mean, it certainly does.

DDI Character Visualizer to have bust slider

"Wrapped in full plate, it's just so great!" Ugh. Those failed saves versus Aqua really left their mark.

DDI Character Visualizer to have bust slider

The sooner they get Loxo in there as a playable race the better. I've been waiting a long time to give this lovely lass the upgrade she deserves. As an aside, I believe that if we can have breasts on twin-trunked elephant ladies then we can have them on anything.

    Pathfinder 1E Pramas on Paizo

That may be so. However, I imagine it is getting to the point that the six month exclusivity window is going to be partially eaten up by development time. Exclusivity window aside the publishers can't reliably plan what 4E products they might develop for the second half of the next financial...

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Keith Baker talking about minions at EN World last night. He said they're walking soap bubbles that burst on contact with, like, anything. I guess it's pretty serious.

new death save == leave your buddy on the floor for 3 rounds?

Exactly. I do like the idea of there being a variable in how long it takes someone to die. That combined with the round count being higher the party will likely need to respond to someone dropping in a way that won't generally always be "Kill the enemy faster".

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

How have people who don't like the vulnerability of 1st level characters been getting by up until now? Add more hit points at first level, start at level 2 or 3, or whatever else people have come up with. I think instead of saying PCs being sturdy at 1st level I should have said PCs being sturdy...

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

I'm not disagreeing with that. I'm not an advocate for extreme PC lethality. I just don't agree that there isn't fun to be had in a game where characters begin their careers vulnerable. PCs being sturdy at 1st level is fine but I don't see it as a selling point for a new edition. I see it as an...

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

Hmm, the good old house cat killing the first level character immediately as they pop out of character generation routine. You're putting words in my mouth for me and I'd prefer it if you didn't. The further along we get with 4E the more I wonder how D&D survived to it the way some people carry on.
