Homers and Haters Beware! Confirmation Bias Exists!

And just like the reviews those responses are opinions.

Homers and Haters Beware! Confirmation Bias Exists!

This is precisely why I haven't signed on with either side of the Blood War.

    D&D 4E AICN 4e Review Part 2: DMing 4e

I've noticed some of this too. 3E has its problems, but in various reviews and rundowns talking about elements of 4E that fix 3E problems I've noted that at times the 3E problems they're talking about aren't necessarily tied to 3E at all.

    D&D 4E AICN Massawyrm's 4E Review - Part 3

Well he does admit in this part that he's a D&D Miniatures fan. If the game has taken some steps to be more like the D&D Miniatures game it would make sense he'd react very positively. I can't say that it has because I've never played D&D Miniatures but the play reports coming from D&D XP do...

    Combat is faster - right?

Same. One thing that still doesn't sit well with me when playing 3E, especially at higher levels, is that fights can often be decided in a couple of rounds. I've mitigated it through some house rules, which unfortunately does make all combat take a bit longer in real time.

    Mearls watching his dragon die

Hmm, so dragons no longer have immunity to sleep. As for Mearls' luck with the dice that sounds like an average session for me. :\

Sooo, that's my players certain not to be subscribing to DDI...

The price is not unreasonable when based upon some previous expectations such as the amount and quality of content in Dragon and Dungeon. One thing to keep in mind is that recent memory of those two magazines is attributable to Paizo and not WotC. One consideration I have when considering this...

    D&D 4E Review of 4E from a Playtester

Well said, but to be fair I've seen just as much of this sort of attacking from the people who are enthusiastic about 4E against those who aren't. Civility isn't edition specific.

Will genasi be in the FR handbook?

The Forgotten Realms is dead, long live the Forgotten Realms? The more we hear about 4E FR the more it seems to me that it's a discontinuation of Forgotten Realms and an introduction of a new setting. After reading that it's difficult to see how it's really going to be the same setting in...

D&D 4E Vote for your favorite 4E PHB cover!

Exactly how I feel. Out of any of the core books the PHB cover art should be showing you what D&D is about. Mugging for the camera isn't what D&D is about. I've always felt that calling it the "Player's Handbook" is a bit of a misnomer because the DM probably uses the stuff in there as much if...

    New Player's Handbook Cover Art!

These are elements of his style that distract me when I'm looking at a lot of his work because they're so hard to ignore. In addition he often has the rear foot off the ground in a half-step that looks awkward because the character doesn't seem to have any momentum and looks like it's hopping...

    New Player's Handbook Cover Art!

One thing that D&D covers have generally done for me is a quick imagination kickstart. They usually show an adventuring scene of some kind and the natural inclination is for the imagination to start filling in the blanks. The first time I saw a D&D book the cover image made my imagination ask...

    The Inverse Trek Law?

I think it would be fairer to say D&D changes with each new edition. The scope of the change is increasing with each new edition. It's looking quite possible that if 1E and 4E are compared they won't be recognizable as two editions of the same game.

    D&D 4E 4E Rogue for non-4E enthusiast

I had a mixed response to the preview. To me it looks like they're trying to ditch the potentially elusive identity of the 3E Rogue and reclaim the more concrete Thief identity of earlier editions to some degree. I like that, but I am still fond of the older editions of D&D which probably...

    Rename Thievery to Roguery

This sounds like an activity that would best be kept behind closed doors. I'm fine with Thievery. In 4.5 they can change the class name back to Thief and all will be well.

D&D 4E Why I like the 4ed Forgotten Realms (and 4ed in general, for that matter)

Well, okay. Thankfully it works well enough for my group and myself when we're playing in FR. My point was that with some creativity a group can skirt around some of the drawbacks of sharing a world with many powerful NPCs while still being able to benefit from having them around when it suits...

D&D 4E Why I like the 4ed Forgotten Realms (and 4ed in general, for that matter)

I don't think this was a serious concern for evil casters. While Mystra could certainly do it I do recall it stating that it was taxing for her to do it. So it would probably only be something she would do if there was a Karsus wannabe looking for loopholes in the Weave. There is also the Shadow...
