Agreed with freyar on the domains (Cold is in Spell Compendium too right?), just a wee bit hesitant on Sun but its workable.

A bit of a nod to the prismatic dragon. And to the chaos roc. Imagine these beasts going at one another. I Like.

I agree with freyar on control winds, many other dragons already have it; and a fully-psionic crystal dragon has the control air counterpart. Searing light's a good choice.

And from the chromium dragon: wall of ice and ice shape (as stone shape but works on ice only). Since this is the most powerful Mystaran gem dragon we can give it a strong great wyrm SLA.

Someone here started a hierarch modron conversion thread, if I can just find it… the author might be interested in this thread.

Like! It sort of combines the effects of both the chromium dragon's breath weapons, plus the frostbrittle effect. Increase damage by 1 die rather than 2 (like white and brass), or use low dice (d4)? I see you used the ice mephit for this.

Hmm, cold damage + crystalline effect + blinded/dazzled is too powerful for me. Although, being so visible would make the dragon somewhat detectable from a distance, and that could be a hindrance.

Brilliant! Oh and doesn't its scintillating breath remind you of the 2e crystal dragon's breath of scintillating shards?

Genius Int same as gold. Body length same as blue from juvenile onward, tail length same as black except as hatchling. This is a comparatively short-tailed dragon. SR/MR same as brass and emerald. Base HD same as red and silver.

    Agree.

    Converting True Dragons

Nobility doesn't fit for me. They may be lawful, but their treatment of dwarves and their avarice for gems strikes me as ignoble. I'd rather go for Earth. Appraise and Jump fit, still out on that last skill. The cold resistance mirrors the fire resistance of gem dragons that Steve Winter added...

We can modify transmute rock to mud into transmute rock to lava. It's one of the spells for my homebrew Magma paraelemental domain but never got into the details. We can use the effects of lava exposure as a guide for the amount of damage dealt. This does the copper dragon one better.

For a red dragon they'd be detect thoughts (juvenile), mass suggestion (ancient), and mass charm monster (great wyrm). They don't seem to fit thematically to the ruby for me at least unless the dragon uses suggestion and charm to make dwarves give it gems. The ruby seems to share the red's greed...

That breath weapon could work. We can also adapt the burn ability of the magma drake and magma paraelemental. Int same as blue. Speed same as red. The ruby dragon has a similar attitutde towards dwarves as does the iron dragon, as both covet mined treasure (gems and iron respectively).

Same here. Ruby and crystalline left.

Neat idea for the smell! Not as overpowering as troglodyte stench, but distinctive nonetheless. A PC downwind of a jade dragon should have a bit of an easier time distinguising it from a green. Slightly towards CR +1 for me.
