    Converting True Dragons

I don't think they're that connected to the elements for the subtype, so let's leave it off. And hold breath works fine for me.

    Converting True Dragons

SR for advanced true dragons progresses by +2, so for drakes I'd go for +1.

    Converting prehistoric creatures

Ah, chalicotheres. They were like the ungulate counterpart of the ground sloths. If you watched Walking With Beasts (I bought a DVD on a US vacation), a chalicothere is in the indricothere episode. And those claws were vicious, like demiurge said, they can do more damage than 1d4.

Re-working the half-dragon template for lesser dragons

I started this thread with the idea in my head that the half-dragon template, while useful and interesting in its own way when applied to non-dragons, may not be adequate when applied to lesser dragons, such as the three in the Monster Manual, the dragon turtle, pseudodragon, and wyvern...

    Converting True Dragons

I'm good with the breath weapon list; the metallics get the secondary non-lethal breath weapons of their true dragon counterparts (slow for copper). Y'know, they'd make perfect dragonkith companions to the latter for those using the Draconomicon.

    Converting True Dragons

I agree with using the cone (for cloud) and line sizes for tue dragons, as well as the energy type of the co-named true dragon. Brass for fire or sleep?

    Converting True Dragons

That should limit them to 6th-level SLAs, which is a good cap. Agree on the cold iron as well.

    Converting True Dragons

From what I've read elsewhere, the fang dragon is now the 4e gray/grey dragon, while the sand dragon of Sandstorm is now the 4e brown, as the 4e Draconomicon art gallery makes it obvious.

    Converting True Dragons

That purple dragon, along with the orange and yellow, was converted as one of the "forgotten chromatic dragons" in Paizo's Dragon Compendium.

    Converting True Dragons

I'm willing to go as high as 6th (or even 7th) level SLAs at great wyrms. They shouldn't be on par with their metallic and chromatic counterparts. Time to check the SRD for this.

WotC Web Forums down all the time!

You're not alone, Gorrstagg, I encountered the same problems a few minutes ago and came over here at once to see if it was being discussed.

    Converting True Dragons

Here's a left of center suggestion. The original article says that these familiar drakes are relate to the faerie dragon, which is a true dragon with the same age categories. Now in 3.5e if the CC faerie dragon is still a true dragon that ages at the same rate as the others, should these drakes...

    Converting True Dragons

I borrowed a copy of the original articles, and it seems that these familiar drakes, while sharing age categories with true dragons, may not be such at all. Hence, it makes it more feasible to remove sorcerer levels from them; the only family of Material Plane dragons without sorcerer or...

    Converting True Dragons

Good point there. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking of the abeil queen from Monster Manual II, which doesn't have many hit dice but is a high-ranking druidic spellcaster.

    Converting True Dragons

Well we gotta avoid Tasha's (Iggwilv's:devil:) Hideous Laughter and Otto's Irresistible Dance then because they're stereotypically associated with fey humor.

    Converting True Dragons

I agree with the standard spell progression, so it's from 1st to 17th? 1d6/HD breath weapon damage sounds good to me.

    Converting True Dragons

For comparison purposes, the true dragons with the slowest size progression are the steel dragon of Waterdeep and the dzalmus of the Endless Waste east of Faerûn, which go from Small to Huge. Normally Int and Cha progress identically with Wis two points behind, so we can keep that. With the...

Converting monsters from Dragon magazine (Part Two)

Fish darts! I love it. Now trying whispering it and "darts" becomes "tarts." :p Using living weapons is a plot device designed to add a level of creepiness to a story and it's been done with varying levels of success. I've seen it done more in sci-fi settings, such as the classic GI Joe...
