    Converting monsters from Imagine Magazine

Hmm, fluff-wise they seem like magical counterparts of psicrystals. If we go by Mortis' suggestion we can give them low-level spell-like abilities that are either the closest analogs of gem dragon psionics or spells that are used as psi-like abilities. Some examples. amethyst: invisibility...

    Converting prehistoric animals

Oh, BTW, if you want to see a video of a eurypterid and how it moves, check out the Walking With Monsters video from BBC at YouTube. It's in the first half. Edit: If you go through the entire 12-part series, there are several beasties there that might be on BOZ's list which can serve as...

D&D 4E What does your dream 4e Monster Manual contain?

I like your list, O Master Monster Junkie, and agree with it for the most part. Here is where I differ. I might add to my list later. Aboleth Couatl Energon, Xag-Ya Energon, Xeg-Yi Githyanki Githzerai Hippocampus Hook Horror Lammasu Mind Flayer Mind Flayer, Elder Brain Mind Flayer...

    Converting True Dragons

Ok, I've got some possible conversions of the abilities. My comments are underlined. Moonstone dragons speak Draconic, Sylvan, and can speak the language of dream recipients (see below). Awesome Aura (Su): Moonstone dragons do not have a fear aura as do most other dragons. Instead, creatures...

    Converting True Dragons

Moonstone too. Isn't it one of those glittery dragons?

    Flying manta-ray creature?

The forest ray from Mystara/Savage Coast is the closest I can find to your flying ray, though it doesn't have innate spellcasting abilities.

    PHB, MM, DMG covers

I dunno, I kinda got used to the faux 3D effect with the orbs/buttons/gems and Higginbotham's spectacular art (MM2 and the Expanded Psionics Handbook come to mind)… but it's cool. Then again, if there's a dragon on the cover, it just has to be the iconic red and no other species, <sigh>…

    Creating Rock Dragons.

Not to interrupt the stalled work on the pyrite dragon, but I just gotta put my ideas down for other dragons before I forget them. Marble dragon: As I suggested, infant marble dragons are known as limestone dragons (wyrmling to young age), which have distinctive personalities and abilities...

    Converting Psionic Creatures

Updated Psionics-Magic Equivalencies I've updated the psionics-magic equivalencies list that I linked to at the WotC psionics forum in an Excel spreadsheet as an attachment. It includes only those spells in the Player's Handbook and a couple in the Epic Level Handbook and Expanded Psionics...

D&D 3.x Kulan: Psionics and Psionic Organizations

Seems you've gotten some Realms stuff already, but if you haven't seen this yet, check out the church of the sleeping deity of psionics Auppenser and how you can adapt it. And for good measure, throw in the psionics clerical domain.

D&D 3.x Kulan: Psionics and Psionic Organizations

There's also an overview of how the psionic classes (including the ardent, divine mind, erudite, and lurk of Complete Psionic) fare in Faerûn at the Class Chronicles Archive here, here, here, and here.

    Converting prehistoric animals

Actually I'd reverse those speeds, even for amphibious species, and definitely they can't use the Run action on land. I've got to check with other statted amphibious creatures, though.

    Converting Psionic Creatures

I'd like to get on board this as psionics is something I like. BTW Shade, I have a longer list of Psionics/Magic Equivalencies I posted at WotC's psionics forum and which I'm updating. Edit: Since invisibility is no longer a 3.5 power (though it was in 3.0), the cat will have to use the arcane...

    Creating new dragons!

What about solid fog as an (Sp) ability? I figure it can be used defensively, as the magnesium dragon is said to be protective. Now for an offensive ability… wall of thorns (druid 5/plant 5) sounds like fun.

Elmore cover art for final issue of Dragon

Doesn't it remind you of his Dragonlance DM screen? I got that from you guys for the Monks of Majere contest. Ah, the good ol' days of Elmore…

    Real Sea Monsters

Here's a favorite of mine, being a paleontologist: BBC's Sea Monsters. Elasmosaurus is in Monster Manual, Megalodon is in Monster Manual II, Archelon and Mosasaurus are in Stormwrack, Cymbospondylus is a primitive ichthyosaur but is different than the one in Stormwrack, Basilosaurus is in...

Magic and D&D Artist Glen Angus has passed Away

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing (and in his mid-30's like my age). I was blown away by his art for Deities and Demigods. Fans might not recognize that he also did the gem dragons for Monster Manual II (his logo appears with each dragon as it does with each deity).

    Aspect of Tiamat

Um, the various aspects of Tiamat in the Miniatures Handbook, Races of the Dragon, Dragon Magic, and Fiendish Codex II web enhancement all have far lower CRs, not beyond 12 IIRC. The closest to a CR 24 aspect is her "mortal" stats in Manual of the Planes, which isn't an aspect but the Queen of...

Getting Monster Manual II added to the SRD

The thing is, anything from WotC has that "official" cachet attached to it, even if stuff from other publishers match it in quality. But, it's also a feeling of nostalgia/loyalty that some monsters present since 1e be given open status. How the epic dragons managed to be in the SRD while the gem...
