    PDFs: Short or Long?

So, I am working on Tern, a Sci-Fi supplement for Nebuleon, and I am talking it over with playtesters and they say "You should break it up into a bunch of small PDFs at about 2-2.50 a pop." I scratch my head and wonder, why not. I could break it up by planet (it is a guide to the Tern System)...

Can someone explain crippled OGC to me

I agree, this could be a reason but it is a kind of longshot. Not trying to belittle it but if I understand correctly you seem to be saying that, on the off chance a third party wants to publish support they can't (or wont). It seems the average customer would be more concerned with "Can I use...

    RPGNow vs. DriveThruRPG?

Morris, No, I was aware of the rate, I was wondering about the second part. I am aware of many of the features but was interested in the posters opinion on the features. Thanks for the info though. :) Bill

Can someone explain crippled OGC to me

Yair has stated my understanding of the usage. The part I have never understood is why players care? I mean, I can appreciate if someone is passionate about open licensining or the like but OGL licensing does not affect a customer's ability to copy content for campaign notes, there own reference...

What is wrong (and right) in the RPG Industry?

Ah, it is because we fear you! :) It is not a forum site but James was trying something like this http://www.rpgindustry.com/ I hope it succeeds.

What is wrong (and right) in the RPG Industry?

Well, some thoughts. I don't really agree with the OP's initial observations. Not that they are wrong but that I feel they are somewhat limited in scope. So, let me start with what I feel is wrong right now. I saw right now because things are changing. Whining. The industry is changing. More...

Mearls' Latest Thought on the Industry

You know, actually I think the industry will move to a release in PDF then the products that move will get printed by POD...heck, maybe even the ones that do not move will be printed by POD. We already see this in a primitive form happeningover at RPGNow. In the future, it will be smoother with...

Mearls' Latest Thought on the Industry

Well, my 2 cents say that PDFs are a different kind of market and development from print. I have 13 print products right now and 15 PDF. PDF I can update as errata and system refinements come along. I truly appreciate that aspect of it. I do believe that this encourages some companies to put out...

What technology was available to the Aztec/Maya empires at their height?

Just so we're clear, the Aztecs had a different view on the cosmology of the world. They were attempting to stve off the next cycle. Different than the Maya. So, the Maya tended to look on the world as a basically ordered place. The universe flowed in a predetermined form determined by the...

What technology was available to the Aztec/Maya empires at their height?

Talking about the Maya More than just advanced calendar it was a means of prediction and the center of their beliefs. Certain days were unlucky as each day had its own patron god. Some gods were evil or bad luck while others were blessings. For this reason, the calendar wheel was very important...

Does a publisher/author's interaction here influence your purchases?

Phil, I must say, I was kind of bummed when you announced your joint effort on the Publishing 101 effort. I am very interested in what you have to say about e-publishing and publishing in general. I would have gladly paid you money for those insights. If you did not guess, I voted yes and...

    A Rule for Everything?

And see, this is where I waffle. Like the Paladin issue, I appreciate that some aspect, tied to a character behavior may be necessary but others just seem intrusive. The Flaws example is perfect. I ran six games a week of oWOD for about a year and I saw some serious abuse of the flaws system...

Need review material for Knights of the Dinner Table magazine

Would you be interested in a copy of Roma Imperious? It came out in 2004 so I was not sure if you would rather have newer material. I could send Squirrel Attack! It is a smaller but very humorous piece. Bill

    A Rule for Everything?

To put my point in these terms, I would rather the player of the character deal with such breaks. Failing that, the group the character is playeing with and finally the GM. But that is my happy-happy world solution...or the group I play with. :) Bill

    A Rule for Everything?

Well, to me, aligniment is more of a definition. A reference for the GM and player to be able to understand where the character is coming from. What I am shooting for are rules where your character must abide by this behavior or be punished. Much like a paladins and their alignment although that...

    A Rule for Everything?

So, a different thread just made my jaw drop. I know that there are gamers out there that truly need and desire a rule for all minutae in a game but I just did not think it went this far. The way I look at a game, and I acknowledge this to be very subjective, is that all I truly need rules for...
