Level Up (A5E) The big difference between A5e and 5e?

It says how much total CR you need for an Easy, Medium, Hard, Deadly and Impossible challenge. It tells you how many encounters of each type a party of a given Tier can probably manage in a day. It tells you that Tier 0 characters can be very squishy, so low CR monsters should be accounted as...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Updates: Monstrous Compendium

It might be useful for some people, but the same monster will classify as several of those simultaneously: it could be an Elite for level 3 PCs but a standard for level 6, a grunt for level 9 and a minion for level 17, for example. If you don't find that multiplicity an issue (too much info)...

Elissar/To Save A Kingdom Check out To Save A Kingdom's Table of Contents!

Nice! I just noticed that Chapter 2 at page 3 is called To Slay a Dragon. Shouldn't it be To Stake a Vampire?

'To Save A Kingdom' Is Here--An Adventure Path for 5E & Level Up: A5E

Backed! And we're already at 300% funded

WOIN Elements of Magic General Enhancements Table

The EoM and magic item systems are two parts of the ruleset that would need some official cleanup. I know that a 1.3 is not even planned, but I hope that it will eventually tackle some of these issues. In the meanwhile I'd go for the table that results in the best gameplay experience at my table

Level Up (A5E) Elite Monster Template

That's because high CR monsters typically have several attacks while low CR monsters only one. If you stick to the rules and cram all damage in a single attack you'll see that the problem persists

Thanks! I did not read the description of the monster, I was just looking at the various giants available and that one seemed out of place

Level Up (A5E) Elite Monster Template

Because burst damage is worse than damage spread over time (and over different PCs). Doing as much damage instantly can knock a combatant down, making it's DPR contribution 0 until it's conscious again Furthermore consider this hypothetical scenario: a normal monster deals 30 DPS, and a cleric...

Level Up (A5E) LevelUp the D&D Movie [Spoilers]

I had a similar thought quite a while ago: a system where there's some sources of power (martial, arcane, divine, focus, primal, etc), and a way to convert from one to the other with imperfect efficiency. Each character would have different pools of the various resources, depending on the...

Level Up (A5E) Elite Monster Template

I see what you mean. I think there are two different philosophies: you either balance against the total output, or you try to keep a balance on a "per round" basis. If you balance against the total output you could have a monster that deals very high damage for a round only (for likely TPKs)...

Level Up (A5E) Elite Monster Template

Why do you find it against the spirit of the elite monster? If it has to be two monsters into one, and has the same actions, reactions and bonus actions, one would need to double the damage. However doing that would certainly result in a monster with too high damage output for the given CR...

WOIN Questions about melee weapons with Shield trait and flat bonuses to MELEE DEFENSE

I think you would get the +2 to melee defense, but you probably won't gain anything for VITAL, as in the description of how defenses are calculated equipment seems to only affect melee and ranged (I think it makes sense too). Final word on this would be from @Morrus of course

Level Up (A5E) LevelUp the D&D Movie [Spoilers]

I would enjoy the movie for what it is instead of finding what level the characters are supposed to be and be annoyed for some inconsistencies I mean, the druid did shapeshift a lot but never cast any spell IIRC. IMO it should be possible by the ruleset to have more wild shapes by burning spell...

    D&D 5E (2014) What is TO SAVE A KINGDOM?

I'm 100% backing this, even if I already have all the 5e modules thanks to EN5IDER. With so much land to explore, I think the A5E rules for exploration and journey activities will really have their time to shine and hope they are emphasized enough in this revised version. For those of us who...

Update: feats! Core20 by Scott Fitzgerald Gray, a teaser introduction.

Following this project with a lot of interest! Also, there was a system probably like this back in the 3.5 era, it was called Eclipse: The Codex Persona, where every single aspect of a character could be purchased via point buy. It might be useful to let it know to the creator, but I couldn't...

Gate Pass Gazette What Would You Like to See Going Forward?

I'd love it too, but the overwhelming majority of parties don't play above level 12 or so. Convincing people that the game can still be fun and challenging at very high level is something that needs to be done before it makes sense to produce material for even higher levels. Besides, LU is...

D&D 5E (2014) Bundle of Holding Offers The Entire 750+ Page War of the Burning Sky 5E Adventure Path For Under $20!

I couldn't miss the opportunity to buy WoTBS again, this time for 5e. The first one I got from the Rebuilding Enworld Kickstarter, way back, and was for 3.5. We played it until more than halfway but using the alternative Trailblazer ruleset (which was AWESOME), and we really did have a blast...
