D&D 5E (2014) Bundle of Holding Offers The Entire 750+ Page War of the Burning Sky 5E Adventure Path For Under $20!

And you really should! The few recent WoTC adventures I tried have a lot of polish on the graphic side, but pretty much all the rest feels quite generic and shallow to me.

Official News Meet the all-new official WARMAGE archetype!

I see your points, but at the same time what I see as the defining features of this archetype only come at level 10 and 14, which is quite the wait IMO. The other features feel a bit underwhelming: 2 are described by yourself as ribbon, one I'd classify as ribbon too (siege monster, damage to...

Level Up (A5E) Curious about the differences in maneuvers known and degrees gained for different classes

Now that I check my tables again, it looks way simpler if the Marshall uses the full table for the degrees, but the half for the known maneuvers, and uses a few adjustments. Then the full progression for known could simply be the one of the fighter. I'll post an update later on

Official News Meet the all-new official WARMAGE archetype!

Love the idea! However I think a bit of tinkering is needed: taking 1 level in fighter and then 1 level in wizard would give immediately all the benefits of Armored Wizard and Ironclad Wizard, plus all the goodies of a fighter (exertion, maneuvers, combat style, weapon proficiencies, etc)...

Level Up (A5E) Curious about the differences in maneuvers known and degrees gained for different classes

Ok, yesterday I was more busy then expected, but I managed to create this pair of tables These tables were generated starting from the ones posted by OP since it was easier for me, I didn't check they are exact but any inconsistency can easily be fixed. This could be an interesting project...

Level Up (A5E) Curious about the differences in maneuvers known and degrees gained for different classes

Totally agree. I do believe there were balancing discussions and trade-offs, but the result of having a separate table for each class bothers me quite a bit. One solution I like more is to create unified progression tables (which can be very useful to design new classes/archetypes as well), and...

    WOIN Starter Set Playtest Draft

Yes, for some reason subtractions tend to speed down gameplay quite a bit. Anyone remembers good old THAC0? It's not different from BAB/proficiecy bonus, but since the latter require additions instead of subtractions they make for faster gameplay.

Official News Level Up Plans For 2023!

Super excited for all projects, except for the regional one. Nothing against japan of course, it's just that those kind of regional setting books are not my jam

    WOIN Starter Set Playtest Draft

The text seems to mean that SOAK dice are removed directly from damage dice. A 4d6+3 damage dice soaked by a 2d6 armor would result only in 2d6+3 damage to be rolled, if I got it correctly.

Level Up (A5E) Finding the Elusive Swordmage

I totally understand your point, although I personally prefer having a big, very beefy but complete release than having several subprojects to collect (I need to remind where's what, etc). Which is also why I'm waiting patiently for the full volume containing all MOARs ;)

Level Up (A5E) Finding the Elusive Swordmage

I know the drawback of course, but I understood that having all possible O(n^2) combinations is something the author is actually pursuing. If you want, it's a bit the course of class based systems: either you are quite rigid and only allow specific combinations, or you need to cover a lot of...

Level Up (A5E) Finding the Elusive Swordmage

Awesome, I absolutely love the idea of having multiclass feats for every possible combination of classes! The Tome of Character Options would be an insta-buy or insta-pledge for me! Good to know too. If there's little overlap each book will have its own merits.

Great! Also, is something similar on the horizon for the Thematic Toolkits?

Level Up (A5E) Finding the Elusive Swordmage

Hey @timespike , I remember time ago you mentioned creating a collection with all issues of MOARs (IIRC after all 5 were released). Have you released it?

Level Up (A5E) Do material spell components always require a free hand in A5E?

The letter says that if you're holding a spell focus you can perform seen components. It doesn't mention material components in general. Since a spell focus only replaces mundane components (without a gp price), you may not cast spells with an expensive material component this way. In this sense...

Level Up (A5E) Do material spell components always require a free hand in A5E?

Both of these descriptions seem to support my decision: if you can perform seen components, you can use material components as well.

Level Up (A5E) Do material spell components always require a free hand in A5E?

Thanks for the summary, it shows there's contradicting stuff like being able to cast V,S,M but not V,S. For me, I'll replace M with S and call it a day.

Level Up (A5E) Leading Throw + Redirect Combo

There's just so much to love... Leading Throw can mean a monster gets thrown off a cliff, in a pit, in a hazardous terrain, in a spell's area, etc, without further saves. This also means that a monster can try to desperately leave a hazardous terrain only to be thrown back in during its own...
