Read through this thread, have a bit of a think about each of the posters positions, and then ignore most of them. With just about any rule you can come up with for good gaming, the opposite is often just as true...

It seems the nature of internet discourse to be polar. People treat discussion as debate, mistake jokes for insults, and are more interested in provoking a reaction than provoking thought.

For sure! Even better, you could make a ritual out of it paint a portrait of everyone's character on a dinner plate, and when they die you can say "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, Peregrine, you are dead to us!" and fling the plate in the fireplace! Hang on, that's been done. :p Yeah, my players...

As a player I think I may have once enjoyed such a dungeon, but then, once I had an inexaustible thirst for all things role playing, and some damn good GM's. Nowdays, I would find the experience interminable, and rather pointless. Nothing against dungeons per se, as long as they are themed or...

I dunno. Looks pretty boring to me. It takes the (admittedly campaign busting) original deck of many things, dulls it down, and reduces everything to mechanics.

Always humans for me. I identify with them more readily, and frankly, those semi humans just don't appeal to me at all. On the contrary, suspension of disbelief is easier undersea - the water holds it up.
