Untyped bonus stacking - ? about March errata

Grandmothers are watching, my friends, let's cool it down from 11 to 0 please. @Marshall What's the difference between a named game element and a game element if a 'named game element' is meant to be the broad term? The examples they give are clearly identifying specific feats as 'named'...

4E, Ashen Crown, and Dungeon Crawls

Bagger, For me it comes down to amount of time spent. In my 3 hours running the game, and for the player, the 3 hours playing the game, I want a certain amount accomplished. The number of combats doesn't matter, so whether I'm fighting 1 combat in a 3 hour session, or 10 combats in a 3 hour...

Help me make WotC adventures better.

Thanks for stopping in Rodney, I think we all appreciate at least having the chance at being heard. I hope you get a few 'unanimous' opinions. My main problem with the modules is the story to fights ratio. The current modules should, based on the amount of story given, really only stretch over...

4E, Ashen Crown, and Dungeon Crawls

Warning: Major Thread Necromancy and Minor Spoilers for "Seekers of the Ashen Crown" follow. So, now I've actually run the Ashen Crown! Not all the way through it, but a fairly good portion of it. Or should I say, I've barely run a third of it? The group got to Encounter 22: Moon Pool and beat...

What is the most over-the-top wildest D&D campaign you've been in?

Well, first we all agreed to playing traveling religious figures from various demonimations. So, my fellow players and I participated, consensually, in sects in missionary positions. It was pretty wild.

Basilisk Venomous Gaze - Requires line of sight?

Is there really a difference between attacking something while blinded and attacking something you can't see? Blah at rules.

Real world good Vs Story good???

A world that is always the foil to the players, be it in their ethical views or to their combat abilities (a fire based party only going up against things with fire resistance) is a silly place indeed. I don't think the characters/players have to learn anything, the situations should just play...

Real world good Vs Story good???

@Krensky: Like I said, I'm not claiming anything about your game. But, to say impose your own opinions on the truth and say that is now the truth I don't think is a good maxim to be generalized to all game masters. Specifically, calling the characters ruthless jerks and only giving examples for...

Real world good Vs Story good???

@Krensky You're making a leap of judgment that causes Hussar to say the players would just find out what makes you happy and go with that. I agree in a general sense, but I'm not going to tell you how your games are. But there may be a problem with following your maxim as a general rule, as I...

Real world good Vs Story good???

Does it matter that the offender is female? I got the impression that there should be more sympathy for a "young girl." Why should that be the case? Also, being young doesn't really factor in given that she is 18/an adult. I'm not seeing what is evil about turning a criminal over to the...

    This mentality needs to die

@nedjer Sure, and the converse is also true, that a heavy focus on non-combat takes away from the the full range of skills and fun that combat offers. I'm not sure your terminology is very useful, either, because it seems quite true that something can be both a role-playing game and a tactical...

    This mentality needs to die

@nedjer Objectivity may require people to agree on what the game is primarily focused on, which as you can see, will not happen. Judging by the amount of words spent on describing combat and combat related accessories, then D&D is incredibly combat-focused. But, is it true that the more rules...

    This mentality needs to die

I second this question. 3 hours sounds like you didn't spend 3 hours fighting, you spent an hour rolling dice and deciding actions and 2 hours on "whoa...dude..I have..like..hands.." Just kidding, but seriously, what was the hold up?

    This mentality needs to die

I believe he's talking about the player's creativity, not the DM's creativity. Beyond that, not everyone is going to agree on what a power can and cannot do. In this case, I agree that Darkfire cannot be used to melt ice. Always saying "yes" is just as bad as always saying "no" in my mind.

    Fate Point Cards (Download included)

I'm wondering why you can only get a +1 to attack with an at-will but a +3 to attack with dailies? Intuitively I would think it would be the opposite, because an attack bonus is more powerful for dailies than it is for at-wills. If you've made use of these, do your players seem hesitant to use...

    Goliath Hybrid

For future reference, this thread would be better served in the 4E rules forum instead of this one. I have no idea what the 'battlefist' is, but if it doesn't have the off-hand property you can't dual wield them. You'll need one of the rangers hybrid talents for that. At least, that's how I...

    New WHFRP3e prospective GM, help!

I'm intrigued by the all the cards and weird dice and tokens and whatnot so that probably puts my interest squarely into the 3E realms. I imagine if I wanted to play a more 'traditional' game like 2E, as you guys describe it, I would be better off with 3.X D&D or Pathfinder, in terms of selling...

    New WHFRP3e prospective GM, help!

This Call of Cthulhu business applies to the 3E of the game as well? Which I have heard is more gamey, and more like D&D 4E (a plus in my group.)

    New WHFRP3e prospective GM, help!

I am suddenly incredibly interested in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, namely the newest (3rd) edition. But, I know almost nothing about Warhammer! Warhammer as I understand it, is its own setting, but is it made to be very flexible like D&D? But, that's just a point of curiosity, because I'd like...
