Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

eyebeams, Quick20 sounds great. It's on my to-buy list next paycheck day :) I'm all for minimal d20 system cross-polination. When the rules are so small, it's easy to pick the best rules from all of them. I do have a wishlist for Microlite20 House Rules that I'll plough through when I've time -...

So, what was the first product where D&D's soul was sold?

D&D's soul is very much alive and well, and always has been thankyouverymuch. I like this game in all it's incarnations for one reason or another. Heck, I hated 2nd Edition AD&D rules with a passion, but loved the funky settings, sheer depth of material and awesome ring-binder Monstrous...

Rules in 3.5 that need fixing and what you'd do to fix it.

And the D&D Rules Cyclopedia is 304. 304 < 317 last time I checked. I said it's less than the PHB and it is. Did I misunderstand, or did you? Good call!

What classes haven't been done yet?

Legolas also has the Shield Surfer and Snow Walker PrCs. They're in the as-yet-unpublished Complete Cinematic Elf supplement from WotC, release date 2011.

    Oots #398

How can something so good keep on getting better? Rich is going to burst sometime soon, I swear. Thog rules!

Rules in 3.5 that need fixing and what you'd do to fix it.

I consider myself banned and promise not to touch your D&D :) Could you elaborate what you think was so bad about the ideas?

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

It's on the downloads page as a regular print or pocketmod pdf. There's no section in the Macropedia for M20 Modern House Rules, but if someone sent me some or added their own to the site.......... :) EDIT: And kensanata, yes please! More Magic Makes Me Merry.

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Kensanata: Works for me :) rycanada: Take 5 eh? If I tell my players that, they'll leave the table, grab a coke, go to the bathroom, etc. :) Intersting idea. I /really/ need to work on an M20 magic system. Half of me likes it's rules-free nature, but the other part of me thinks that it's been...

Rules in 3.5 that need fixing and what you'd do to fix it.

You're right, I was horrible and gross, and apologise :) I'd gotten used to folks on these forums knowing what the D&D Rules Cyclopedia was. My bad. Here's an overview, and why I think it's possible under d20: That book is a miracle of compact, precise writing. The nine classes take up 2 pages...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

The only reason I put it at 10, rather than d20, was to make it faster to run in-game. One less dice to roll, that's all. Either works for me though. I bow to your decision :) Jezter, I've played the M20 modern rules and love then just as they are. I wouldn't change a single thing. I must...

Rules in 3.5 that need fixing and what you'd do to fix it.

You've clearly never read the D&D Rules Cyclopedia :) It's got world building, dungeon building, mass combat rules, siege, naval and aerial combat rules, stronghold building, a complete bestiary, treasure, an overview of a gameworld and lots, lots more than just "PHB" with incomplete stuff...

    Help me save my game

Off the top of my head......... - Talk to the players and find out what they want. Maybe the problem you think isn't the problem there is. Perhaps they're just not enjoying Savage Tides. That's cool, and easy to fix. - Change the game for one session. Play Microlite20 (link in my sig) or a...

Rules in 3.5 that need fixing and what you'd do to fix it.

Here's my top ten, in no particuar order: 1) Make AoO and using miniatures in gaming optional again. Stick it in a sidebar where it belongs, or even in a seperate book altogether. 2) Fix grappling, natural attack / unarmed attacks so the rules are consistent and clear by making them all...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Mark, I'm in your hands and ready when you are :) Pilsnerquest, I'm thinking about spells where there's more than one variable. Taking your example of the ball of fire - it's got area of effect, damage, range and possibly duration if you want the magical flames to continue beyond a round. A...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

I like your classless concept a lot, especially the table of "class" names. Great idea! I suspect a magic-user in this system will need to work out his spells in advance otherwise the options for rolling 5 above, etc, will get mighty complex :) Another one for me to bookmark for when I need to...

Yarr! Me WFRP2 Pirates Campaign be kickin' off ternight!

That sounds like great fun and I wish you all the best with it! Keep us posted, ok? And wow. Goblin pygmies must be really small! :)

Did someone declare January "Edition Wars" month?

Yep. Says so right here on my calendar: Jan 2007 - Edition Wars. It must be something to do with all that Hogmanay looking back and taking stock mentality. It's good for the soul though, and important that we don't forget D&D's evolition. Of course, creationist gamers claim that 3rd Edition was...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Not too wordy, but perhaps a tad confusing :) How about something like: "Use Magical Attack as the "to Hit" roll for any spell that directly targets a foe. For spells which manifest physical damage (eg, lightning bolt) this must exceed AC to hit. Otherwise the DC = 10+opponent's MIND...

Help me help my group like WFRP

Why not? This is the General RPG Discussion forum, not the General RPG-so-long-as-it's-d20 Discussion forum :) I played a lot of Warhamster RPG once upon a time, and loved the game. The only reason we I don't play it now is because we're too stuck in D&D, d20 Modern and Microlite20 to find room...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Kensanata, I was thinking along those lines last night too. Can you write that up in the Core Rules Revised, please. Sounds good to me. Rycanada, what you're suggesting is (in effect) that the DC for the defense roll against hits from an NPC = 10+the attack bonus. Is that right? If so, that...
