D&D 4E Are the 4E previews like turning it up to 11?

I wholeheartedly agree with you. If you look at PlaneSailings link and see what Jim Bishop had to say regarding playtesting: On playtesting 3E: "In the early days of the 3E project they decided to throw as many beta testers at it as they could find, and over the past months there have been...

D&D 4E Are the 4E previews like turning it up to 11?

I will pull some examples from Plane Sailing's link. Ryan Dancy said the following in: SR VP Ryan Dancey discussed the rationale for moving from the 2nd edition 1-minute combat round to the 3E six-second combat round: We want to reduce the distance a figure can move on the battlefield to...

D&D 4E Are the 4E previews like turning it up to 11?

Well, I don't own either of those books nor do I plan on buying them. If they are such a good preview, then I don't see why releasing some real information about 4E is so dangerous. Again, I think it's because they are rushing production without official playtesting, etc.

D&D 4E Are the 4E previews like turning it up to 11?

I would imagine some things have been finalized. After all according to WOTC, they have been working on it since 3E came out, Bo9S/SW Saga/etc. are all previews, they have been in house playtesting for months. I hope someone has a good idea of what is going on since production will have to...

Where the #$%$^ is Stuff on D&D Insider?

This is what scares me. I don't get the sense WOTC hired a bunch of software/IT guys to keep up with their website with the DND insider. I never went to the "old" website because it was hard to navigate. So far I haven't seen anything to convince me otherwise.

D&D 4E Are the 4E previews like turning it up to 11?

Mike Mearls: This edition goes to four. Look, right across the book, four, four, four and... Bruce Cordell: Oh, I see. And most editions go up to 3.5? Mike Mearls: Exactly. Bruce Cordell: Does that mean it's better? Is it any better? Mike Mearls: Well, it's a half better, isn't it? It's not...

d20 Modern: What Would you change part II

By replaced I mean will Darwin's World be updated to Modern 2.0 and all future books released as 2.0, blood + (fill in the blanks) will all be released as 2.0, etc. Will RPG objects d20 modern support decline?

d20 Modern: What Would you change part II

Chuck, With all this 4E talk, it got me thinking about your longterm plans with this book. Is this something that will replace RPG Objects current books? Will they convert to Modern 2.0? Will you make it OGL so other companies can build on it? There are a myriad of other similar questions...

Getting randomized miniatures from online boosters- Get real

So what about the majority of us who don't buy DnD minis. What do I pay $10 per month for?

    Why is it so important?

I think that may be a bit extreme considering no one is in combat for 16 hours straight. In fact most DND combats last only a few minutes of game time. Considering that 3.5 is based on 4 encounters per day, I don't think it's all that crazy. Besides I am simply using arguments by others...

    Why is it so important?

I think of HP as my degree of injury or how near death my character may be. People are throwing around the suspension of belief because they are resting in the dungeon. By resting I am referring to the need to actually sleep which is very realistic. However, I do agree that characters will...

Getting randomized miniatures from online boosters- Get real

The problem I have with the digital initiative is where does pricing and selling stop? What do I get from the digital initiative? Well, I have never subscribed to Dungeon/Dragon, but I have probably 50 issues picked up here and there. I look at the WOTC website about once every 3 months...

    Why is it so important?

Your last line says it all...."You can just keep pushing on." My question is with the per encounter system, players could keep pressing on in the dungeon for longer periods of time. Is there anything in the new mechanic to account for this? Part of the reason you had to camp in the dungeon is...

    Why is it so important?

Taken this line of thinking to the extreme, why don't we just have all characters do 1d8 points of damage per round. Your wizard calls it a magic missile and my fighter calls it a longsword. Part of the reason I like being a wizard is resource management. Yes, I realize that there will still...

Getting randomized miniatures from online boosters- Get real

Unfortunately for me that would kill the deal. I don't like the randomness of booster packs. As a result I won't buy them. As a poster said above, the randomness is used to move inventory. That model is not required for online format. From a marketing strategy the people who want online...

Except from WOTC who's marketing strategy may be to double bill me for the service to be usable. I would liken it to the game of golf. You have to pay green fees and buy clubs to play (two purchases). The only problem with golf is that both purchases aren't typically going to one seller.

I was trying to to separate out one aspect of your info. Thanks for giving us the scoop.

    Why is it so important?

The problem that I have with statements like these is how does it really affect you? Yes, the story line is fragmented and not ideal, but it doesn't REALLY affect gameplay. If our group told the DM we rest for the night, five minutes of real times passes and we are back off to adventuring...

Getting randomized miniatures from online boosters- Get real

From todays front page news, Didier Monin is quoted as saying: "We are still looking and defining the exact details of how digital miniatures will be available for the game table, and we will provide the relevant information in due time through the dndinsider.com articles. Getting miniatures...
