    Creative Use of Low-level Magic.

In 2nd edition, we used stone shape (3rd level) to entrap an evil cleric within a nearby boulder. He was granted a reflex save (or whatever the equivalent was back then) to jump out of the way and failed. This was after a big battle royale and several members were near death, out of spells...

What 3 WOTC books to buy????

I have $90 in gift certificates from participating in a survey to Barnes and Noble. What are the 3 best non setting specific WOTC books to buy. I already own MM 1+2, PHB, DMG, Libris Mortis, Eberron core book. Looking for Enworld's best recommendation.

    Dragonlance: Our LotR?

I was pretty similar to you and I think age has a lot to do with it. I had played DND a few times with my cousin but really wasn't interested. A friend introduced me to Dragonlance and I was hooked. I then started back into DND with a passion. Tolkien can goes into amazing detail to set a...

    Industry Information Influx?

Perhaps it's hindsight being 20/20, but I always seem to remember people posting chats with designers. Can't remember if it was here or on Eric's site. Anyways, the medium seemed more protective as there was a moderator asking questions and others would write in. Then there was generally a...

WotC Replies: Statements by WotC employees regarding Dragon/Dungeon going online

Although I agree with you that WOTC site probably gets a huge amounts of hits, I would question how much of the board actually gets viewed (or as you say seen). For example, the last time I went to WOTC site was to look at Star Wars preview. Before that, the new minis coming out. I would dare...

Does Loss of Dragon/Dungeon Hurt Future Game Designers?

I wonder how well it will work if the online content doesn't do well and has a low subscription rate. Does it carry the same prestige as Dungeon/Dragon? What if I am an RPG company and want to hire new talent? Do I subscribe to digital initiative just to see your work?

Does Loss of Dragon/Dungeon Hurt Future Game Designers?

The distribution channels will be much more limited. If I work for an RPG company and saw that you had Dragon/Dungeon credits as a potential new employee, I think you get instant street cred. Since they were officially licensed by WOTC I also think that gave you more access to a job with the...

Does Loss of Dragon/Dungeon Hurt Future Game Designers?

While I agree, there is going to be some definite lag time if they do allow outside submissions. Since no one has any idea what the digital initiative is, it will be hard to begin writing submissions. If the content of Dragon and Dungeon is likley to be duplicated, they better already have a...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

Generational ideas change. I am not sure how you classify me (31 yrs old) but I would simply respond with the phrase carpe diem.

WotC Replies: Statements by WotC employees regarding Dragon/Dungeon going online

But the question is it WOTC or Hasbro. If it's Habro, WOTC ties to Paizo become a moot point. I don't know how their corporate structure plays into decisions at WOTC. Under your description WOTC would seem to be performing pretty independently, which may be the case.

Now WotC has taken Dragonlance (merged)

Unfortunately whatever those reasons may be, they are beginning to erode consumer confidence. Consumer perception is a very important thing. Being from Detroit it vaguely reminds me of the American car companies. They put out some poorly made cars back in the 80s and began losing the race...

Does Loss of Dragon/Dungeon Hurt Future Game Designers?

I guess Ryan Dancey agrees with me: http://web.mac.com/rsdancey/iWeb/RSDanceyBlog/Blog/8B285E15-19B7-45F1-8B5A-DE48E4EFD782.html "Furthermore, those magazines play a very important role in the hobby game ecology. They represent a place where new authors can find out if writing for the gaming...

Does Loss of Dragon/Dungeon Hurt Future Game Designers?

I dare say the idea was novel in reguards to the above topic. Of course I only read 35 pages of the 150+ free online Enworld content so I may have missed something

    New McFarlane Dragons!

I was thinking that the scavenger dragon would make an excellent crossbreed dragon between a blue and a red. http://spawn.com/toys/product.aspx?product=3237 While I am currently selling my house and dont have time to actually write up this beast, it must have the required fire/electricity DR...

Does Loss of Dragon/Dungeon Hurt Future Game Designers?

Not to add yet another Dragon/Dungeon thread, but after reading many of them I came to an interesting conclusion that I don't believe anyone commented upon. The loss of these two magizines may actually hurt the future availability of game designers. Look at WOTC public statement and see how...

Why Wizards Has Lost Touch w/ Its Base

Those 18-25 year olds with older unreliable cars, college tuition, poor jobs, rent, credit card payments, etc....I don't see your argument. Older people have more disposable income because they generally have more established jobs and a "stable" lifestyle. However, I have no disagreement that...

Why don't more people play high level campaigns? 13th+

Notice that I didn't say the party, only my character. Round per round our damage our was pretty equivalent. However, I could never overcome any of the creatures DR as we got higher in level. I consider DND characters to need a balance of combat skills and regular skills. Some PCs will shine...
