    Piracy

The problem is that someone who has bought the books has all the above information contained in the DDI.....except the DDI isn't free. So is the subscription cost a payment for the formatting to the compendium? What if I don't like the packaging it comes in? What if I don't have internet...

    Miniatures terrain

No worries man. I hope my question didn't come off as implying that you were misappropriating your personal income. Just curious what it took to get a playset like that. BTW, if you don't spend money on the things you enjoy now and then, I guess you're not really living.

    Miniatures terrain

Mike, not to get too personal but how much have you invested to get that set of Dwarven Forge items? You have what I would consider a "workable" collection. By that I mean I would have most scenarios covered that I wanted to create. I am sort of an all or none guy. Yeah it's cool to create a...

    Buying habits at FLGS events

Since I buy books from amazon, I usually buy something I can't get readily online. Metal minis, new dice, different (non-dnd) systems, etc. I also like to raid the discount bin if they have one.

    Panel on Gary Gygax

Umbran, I'll throw out a few ideas. I would first ask yourself to define your role as moderator. This sounds easier than it really is. My experience with moderators stems mostly from medical conferences with experts presenting either research, discussing cutting edge treatments, or best...

    GEN CON being sold?

As I alluded to earlier in the thread...I belong to some significant medical organizations (American Urological Association and American College of Surgeons). There is no way either one would consider a conference in NYC. The building rental fees alone are cost prohibitive for the...

    GEN CON being sold?

The problem with NYC is the costs are too high. If you look at major medical conferences they are never in NYC. I always thought Chicago did a great job with the Comicon. Having never been to Gen Con I would guess they have a similar draw.

Medeival Geeks! Is There a Term for a Mace-Wielder?

I've always preferred my last name....Broghammer. Which is also a creative professional wrestling move on my kid brother.

Your Dicebag and You. What makes a perfect Dicebag

Well....nothing beats this: Minus the peanut butter of course, although your dice will smell like peanut buttery goodness for about a year

Has anyone tried gaming via webcam?

Has anyone used Windows Messenger Live? I use this to communicate with my out of town parents and in laws. I am familiar with skype because my au pair used to call home to Poland but I have never actually tried skype. Mostly because it would take to long to explain to my parents how to...

Has anyone tried gaming via webcam?

After having moved away from my two previous groups, starting a new job, and an expanding family, I really don't have time to go out and find a new group. Given the DDI game table release is about as eminent as the apocalypse I have to find an alternative to itch where I scratch. I had the...

    WotC announced non-randomized minis

I've always thought the smartest thing they could do was sell the a pack to match the adventure you're about to play. Take this new super adventure "Revenge of the Giants". How about making a box set that has every miniature you'll need to run the adventure.

Confessions of a full time Wizard confession

I am just curious how the article helped the women in your group? I can only assume that they were casual players but somehow felt validated that there were other women playing?

Forked Thread: V-minis and DDi (was Gamespy interview)

Don't get me started on this. Having no track record is one thing. Consider it an unknown when a company begins taking products in different directions. Having a bad track record is a whole other story. WotC had better wow me (no world of warcraft pun intended). They need to be on time with...

Forked Thread: V-minis and DDi (was Gamespy interview)

Ok. Subscribing to the virtual tabletop without 3-D minis is like subscribing to a magazine for $5/month to have it delivered and then having to pay another $5 to have words printed into it. The only reason I was remotely interested in this project is 1. It allows me to game with friends that...

Against the Giants picture gallery is up!

I can't disagree with you specifically on that statement. However, it is not the commons I care about. In my eyes, you can take just about any humanoid figure and call it an orc, bugbear, gnoll, goblin, kobald, etc. To me they're all the same monstrous humanoid. What I can't do is call it a...

Against the Giants picture gallery is up!

Ding, ding, ding.....give that man a prize. That is why WotC doesn't get my RPG dollar for minis. They're not marketed to me and the sales distribution model does not help me one bit.

D&D 4e Rules Compendium in online!

D20srd.org is free and likely someone's labor of love. So who cares if it took awhile. Rules compendium will cost me $15 per month along with a whole lot of other wizbang items that I can't apparently live without. At least I think I can't live without them because that is what everyone tells...

Agree d20srd.com is the gold standard. Hire the guy to make the compendium and call it a day.

What D&D can learn from spaghetti sauce

I don't really like what I see in 4E, but I still plan on buying the books to get a better look at the game. If I don't buy another 4E book after that is 4E still doing tremendously in comparison to me previously purchasing multiple 3E splatbooks? I think I am not alone.
