    What's your campaign world's cosmology?

I have the standard inner planes (elemental planes), the standard coexistent planes (shadow, ethereal), one plane for each god (six total), and lastly the Astral plane. In a homebrew campaign, I found it beneficial to limit the number of gods and the number of planes. Easier to remember and...

    What ELSE do Fighters do?

Just to throw in a counter example... what else do barbarians do? They don't have the flexibility in feats compared to the fighter, same skill points (at least I think).

    Quick Question

Hm... If I were DM, I might be inclined to allow #2, but I think #3 is correct by the rules. I thought there was a rule regarding changes in status and saves... so I thought there might be something to support #2, but I may be mistaken.

Shortened buff spell durations: Good or bad?

Someone really needs to make a poll...

The Revision Right Under our Noses...

Yeah, I knew about this since I have, uh, issues with how the ELH handles itself in some places. That's the first thing I thought of when I heard 40d6, but it doesn't quite match up with what the Epic Insights column proposes. I wonder if all the save or die spells have been changed to save or...

What do you think of the 3.5 spell changes?

Shadow Well in Magic of Faerun. It's fourth level, and those who fail a Will save are "sucked" into the Shadow Plane for a few rounds (1 rd/lvl). They are effectively out of combat (like Hold), but since they aren't there they can't be CDGed.

    [3.5] Archers nerfed! Meleers/Spellcasters rejoice!

Hm... that's a good point, why bother with magic arrows now? The only benefits I can think of is adding +Xd6 effects or special effects, since +X bonuses won't be stacking. I guess that would make sense, given a bow with a total enhancement of +X costs the same as the equivalent sword (under...

    Casters Nerfed, Melee Ascendant (3.5)

True, I ignored monster changes, but then again I was not taking them into consideration, only comparing the changes from 3.0 classes to 3.5 classes. Like I said before, I was summarizing based off of what we've seen, not the entire revised monster manual. For the sake of discussion, let us...

    Casters Nerfed, Melee Ascendant (3.5)

Hm... I'll be brief... Melee is being improved in 3.5 - Ranger "improved" (many changes) - Paladin "improved" (more smites) - Barbarians "improved" (DR earlier, rage) - Monk "improved" (DR system helps here) Meanwhile, it is my understanding casters remain unchanged (clerics...

    Frustrated by Party Composition

Rings of evasion are popular in my Epic game. Seems to be a no-brainer there.

    Old revisions thread (ignore)

Probably from me :-). Actually, I noticed the Mystic Theurge does not have Scry as a class skill, which seems *rather* odd by a 3.0 point of view. When I asked Andy Collins about it on his board, he said we had to wait for July. Snooping around his website, I found some of his alternative...

1 min per level spells and why they suck

Honestly, I don't like the fact the change is so drastic. The "out-of-combat" buff spells have become "maybe cast in battle" buff spells. It is possible, but unlikely, they will be cast before combat. (Honestly, who casts Shield before combat?) My real issue here is: were we just playing it...

    3.5 Dungeon 100 info

Re: Re: Re: Re: 3.5 Dungeon 100 info From what I understand, the books have already gone to the printers and they already have early copies of the book. For some of these changes, I *really* wonder where they are getting their feedback from. Sounds like they are making just as many mistakes...

    Spellfire wielder

Ten levels. The character is 12th level, a 10d6 damage burst isn't out of the ordinary. Nor is healing 10d4+10 points of damage (or combinations thereof). The character *should* have a higher Con score, is capable of holding many many more spellfire levels (due to the PrC), but 10 places the...

Is the Sorceror as bad as I think?

Sorcerers are definitely easier to play. The tough choices are up front: What spells to take? While the wizard can decide each day what spells to fill his slots, the sorcerer does not vary the spells he has available. I agree that the sorcerer needs some work. I'm playing in an epic game...

DM can't get the hang of high-level play

Pick up the Epic Level Handbook (ELH). There are many variant rules in it for epic level play (21+).

Poll: Who did play in a group where the master had a "pet NPC"?

When I was DM, I may have been slightly guilty of this. My "pet" NPC was my idea of a character I would have liked to play (for some reason, I have never played a wizard character very far, as in only a few levels). And so I have an NPC that bears the same name as my handle here. Now here is...

Losing a level is not fun

Well, here's my rationale. Before a character dies, he possesses certain abilities. Spellcasters illustrate the point easier, so say a 17th level wizard is slain in battle. A group of heroes managed to recover the wizard's body and spellbook, and bring him back with a non-True Res spell. Now...
