Outside of the WoTC D&D minis...

Thanks folks....and Merric, thanks for the suggestion on that Troll. To answer your question: I was looking at the Umber Hulk, the Wraith, the Troll, and the Owl Bear on eBay, and realized I wasn't going to be able to fork over the $200 or so it would cost me to acquire them in the numbers I...

Outside of the WoTC D&D minis...

Thanks for the responses. Orgrok, I am buying the D&D minis, but there are some rares from the initial sets that I want, and they are WAY overpriced on eBay. Unfortunately, this is the kind of 'issue' I saw becoming a problem when WotC decided to go with the collectible format, and it has...

Outside of the WoTC D&D minis...

...which other companies make miniatures that closely resemble the various monsters found in the D&D game (in other words, a Troll that looks like a D&D troll, a Carrion Crawler, an Owlbear, an Umber Hulk, and the like) ? If said figures / company exists, how well do they mesh with the...

    Conan RPG

D20 Conan is my favorite version of the D20 rules. I agree with what Teflon Billy said - It really focuses on characters over equipment, and with the changes (to the D20 system) made to combat, every fight is one where I am on the edge of my seat and nervous. My favorite supplements so far are...

Conan - Converting D20 Material Over

Thanks for the response Ibram. It's mainly the Parry & Dodge bonus for creatures that I am wanting some guidelines on.

Conan - Converting D20 Material Over

Hi folks, I was looking for some tips on converting D20 (and D&D 3.5) material over to Mongoose's Conan system - namely races and monsters, but haven't been able to find any guidelines online. Do any of you have any links or tips that might help me ? Thanks.

    Why does everyone hate drow?

I think people are just tired of the cliche.

    Rate D1-16: Dragonlance

I'm about to run them in 3.5 with a whole different take and starting point. The places will be familiar, some of the events will be familiar, but it's going to be a whole different ball of wax than the novels, or the original adventures we played back when they were released for 1E. That said...

    Quick Prestige Class Question

Thanks for the reply folks. That's what I always assumed, but had a couple of players question the rule.

    Quick Prestige Class Question

If a Prestige Class lists "Fortitude Save +4" as a requirement for entry into the class, does that mean that the character must have a BASE Fortitude Save of +4, or that with added Ability Score bonus, the total must equal +4 in order to enter the Prestige Class ? Thanks!

    Mongoose Quintessential Series

What needs to be changed/updated with these books to make them work for 3.5 ? How good are they (In other words, did Mongoose have a good grasp of the 3rd Edition rules when the first ones were produced ? Did they keep the line fairly balanced as 3rd Edition continued towards 3.5 ?) ? Thanks!

What is the best mapping software...

...for creating D&D style indoor grid maps that look like the ones in the 3.5 WoTC books ? I'm talking about the detailed color maps that you can use as a battlemat for miniatures. Thanks!

Do you need the full Grim Tales book to use the PDF Mass Combat System ?

    Abstract Mass Combat in D&D/D20

Thanks for the response. I looked at Fields of Blood on their website, and it looks like it uses hex-map and counters. I'm looking for something completely abstract (which isn't rooted in a map-based system I will have to modify). I think I own Quintessential Fighter for 3.0, and have it in...

    Abstract Mass Combat in D&D/D20

Hi folks, I was reading through the Dragonlance: War of the Lance hardback book, and it lists troop stats for the various Dragon Armies while explaining that the stats can be used with a number of available D20 products which detail mass combat. I used to really enjoy the War Machine system in...

Major NPCs - Character or NPC Classes

Hey folks, I need to create several NPCs for a campaign, and I wanted to ask: Should I use NPC classes or standard Character classes ? Two will be NPC love interests, and I am thinking of using the Noble NPC class to create them. Another will be a corrupt noble who is trying to take over a...

Player's Handbook II (and other May releases)

Merric, The title above your picture ("Official ENworld Optimist") couldn't be more true.....Sometimes it's just sickening to those "glass half empty" types like me. :p All kidding aside, It's actually quite refreshing - just don't let it reach "apologist-fanboy-fever-pitch" if the PHB II...

D&D 4E Who else is going to be a deserter when 4e comes out?

I don't mean to sound cliche, but I really do have more than enough 3rd Edition products to keep me busy my entire life without needing to switch to a newer edition. Hell, I haven't even had the time to read half of what I own. Unfortunately, being a compulsive buyer, I'm sure I will at least...
