Thanks for the info folks! Henry, do you happen to recall the names of those AD&D Play-by-Post games ? I am working hard to convince one of the player's in my group to run an AD&D game, and if he does, I'll be happy to post up a story hour.

City State of the Invincible Overlord - Old School Revisited

Thanks for the info.... One thing I did notice while flipping through City State at the store was mention of "Knights". Are there any organized Kingdoms in the Wilderlands (other than the City State) ?

City State of the Invincible Overlord - Old School Revisited

Ok folks, Long story short, as some of you may have noticed from other posts, I've been on an 'old school' kick lately. It started with house ruling Castles & Crusades to run Castle Zagyg when it comes out, that lead to perusal and purchase of The Wurst of Grimtooth's Traps. I started looking...

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Hi Gary, I've got some quick AD&D initiative related questions for you. After reading through the 20 page PDF regarding AD&D initiative that someone posted up over on Dragonsfoot, I think I'll be houseruling an easier way to handle things in my games. That said, another posted on Dragonsfoot...

    EN Milestones

Thanks Eric. I remember stumbling upon your 3rd Edition News sight while I was on a business trip in Dallas, TX. I had nothing else to do in the hotel room after the work day was over, so I read everything I could about the "new edition". Man, that was a long time (and several jobs) ago.

    Old School 3.5 Products

To go along with my 'Old School Experiences' thread, I thought I would start a second post to list 3.5 specific products that you folks have used in your games that helped make them 'feel' like the games you used to play with the older editions. Again, I'm talking about specific 3.5 products...

'Old School' Experiences with D&D 3.5

Scadgrad - No worries, my group and I playtested C&C, and we like it a lot. Some of the guys I play with prefer D&D 3.5 though, so I'm trying to create a 3.5 game that really feels like old school D&D. Great comments all!

'Old School' Experiences with D&D 3.5

Now that it's been a couple of days, I can't recall the exact text of the book, but I don't think that the statements in the intro were comparing AD&D to D&D 3.5. I think it may have been referring to Tunnels & Trolls, and saying that it was a bit difficult to make the traps as effective in a...

'Old School' Experiences with D&D 3.5

Hi folks, I often hear it argued that if you want 'Old School', you shouldn't play D&D 3.5, but should play Basic, 1st Edition, Hackmaster, or Castles & Crusades. I recently picked up "The Wurst of Grimtooth's Traps", and was reading the intro section regarding how 3rd Edition had relegated a...
