yeah I think it's an extension of the social contract to play - you dont rob the magic shop, or the baron's treasury, etc - even though it might make good sense to after a few levels.

Main design choices I find problematic: 1. Too high magic - nearly every subclass class has it. 2. Way too forgiving on death, dying and healing. 3. Attribute score are meaningless. 4. Long rest vs short rest class divide. I would fix these by: removing some of the magic (no cantrips, make...

I dont like paladins in 5e because it appears that their code has no teeth, and they are otherwise borderline OP even without feats. Partly because smite does not require an action of any kind, partly because crits and bonus dice are stupid broken, and partly other reasons.

Given you cant win by dodging (costs your action) I wouldnt call it overpowered. It just delays the inevitable.

I like that method too - reminds me of 4e & 13th Age bloodied effects which were common. I suspect without extra hp however the fight will be over very fast vs a party of 5 or 6 (if it is a true solo encounter, not backed up with minions or similar). edit - course a quick fight usually isnt a...

Just give your boss double hp, adv on saves until bloodied (and it gets a save against things that dont normally allow saves, eg sleep or forcecage), and off turn attacks (ie it gets an attack or move/attack after every PC's turn). And you have a true solo that will scare the sh*t out of the party.

Broken as batsh*t. Amazed it got thru playtesting (assuming there was any).

I think to be fair the game starts to break around level 11. Probably a good time for a restart.

Yeah I think in prior editions wizard summoners were simply too strong, so they removed them.

What? Is this right, in original d&d characters had 1 hp, or 2hp for the fighter I presume? That is ... just tooooooo low.
