Figured Out One of my Main Problems with D&DI

I thought the virtual game table didn't automate rules at all, it just functioned literally as a game table- a surface to move around virtual miniatures and roll virtual dice. If this is true, the question of 3rd party support is moot.

    Eladrin, warlords, and unnecessary D&Disms

Tauren are an anthropomorphic bovine race from WoW, and despite this, WoW is a vastly more popular game than D&D.

Actual age of the 4th edition player base

The only 4e marketing I've seen so far has been directed entirely at the existing player base.

Attention WotC: Drop the must-sign-in thing until it works, please.

Because an email address is already a unique identifier, and something people are more likely to remember than a username created on the spot.

Attention WotC: Drop the must-sign-in thing until it works, please.

I haven't had any trouble, except for momentary confusion today learning that you now need to use your Gleemax login email address for DDI. I think issues like this are inevitable when transferring such to a new log in system. It will work itself out in time.

I'd rather have all at once

Releasing everything piecemeal has the side effect that every single article gets it's own discussion thread on ENWorld, instead of one thread per monthly issue. I'm not sure if this is good or bad.

    Gleemax Cheesewax

That's ok. Gleemax isn't primarily a D&D website, it's WotC's general gaming website. Speculation about future online D&D offerings should focus on DDI, not Gleemax.

    Google Adsense?

They're already not on DDI, just Gleemax. But yeah, you'd have to be trying really hard to be bothered by them.

Way to get girls (?!): the new column for the new Dragon.

You can believe what you want, of course, but a more informal style is perfectly acceptable to the type of article referred to (in the United States at least,) as a "column."

    Serenity Sequel possibility

No, the cast was too large for the switch to the feature film format, because there isn't enough time in a movie to properly focus on so many characters. Serenity took steps to correct this.

    D&D 4E I'm really concerned about 4E

I think that this "fraction of the game" will be just as much game as we're getting in 3e. Without the DI, you'll just be missing out on what amounts to accessories- things like character generators, searchable databases, and digital terrain files. The game itself is still the rulebooks.

What happens to previous edition material on store shelves?

The Borders near me has some 3.0 splatbooks (Defenders of the Faith and the like) that have been sitting on the shelves for years.

    So New Dragon kinda up...

I'd enjoy a monthly selection of some of the more interesting posts. The whole point of a magazine is that's it's content is selected and edited by the editors (well, maybe not the whole point.) Another, more modern option would be to allow comments attached directly to the articles themselves.

D&D Cosmology: the old and the new. Where do you stand?

I'm a fan of the Great Wheel (mainly by way of Planescape), but it doesn't bother me at all to see it removed from core. Actually, the only time I've use the Great Wheel in 3e was when running a Planescape campaign.

ROBOTECH RPG - its back, and its new

The first book will be out less than two months after announcing the license? How realistic is that?

    Gaming Groups and their OS's

I'm a Mac user and DM for my group. If the character manager software is worth it, I won't mind running it through Parallels. I don't have a use for the virtual tabletop, so it's lack of Mac comparability doesn't matter to me.

CRs/ELs -- apparently the designers don't read the rules they talk about (old thread)

Because unlike me, they devote 40+ hours a week to the topic. (And you just said yourself that it can't be taught, so I'm not sure how the lack of college course curriculum applies.)

CRs/ELs -- apparently the designers don't read the rules they talk about (old thread)

And I'm going to take an even wilder stab and say that Mike Mearls has read, and does in fact understand, 3e rules.

    D&D 4E Women in 4E

The images in question here are overtly sexual, and have nothing at all to do with admiring greek and roman masters, and nothing at all to do with the figure drawing learned in art classes. You'd actually have a hard time getting the type of artist you're describing to admit that fantasy...

Can WotC really set "Core" to what they want?

All throughout 3e, the WotC website has classified non-setting specific D&D books as "core." Apparently, nobody noticed this. The difference in how they're using the word in 4e is... nothing.
