Critical Computer Question---related to D&D Digital

My guess is that it will run on an intel Mac through (virtualized) Windows just fine.

Some D&D Insider bits (Update 9/13: Lots of new info)

I don't think they should be faulted much for this. Creating an easily usable interface to enter 3rd party material and house rules would at least double the complexity of the project. There's always a trade-off between options and usability.

    D&D 4E The WotC designers will be bashing 4e once 5e is announced . . .

I don't know about the rest of the team, but Mike Mearls was pointing out areas of 3e that could use improvement before he even started working at WotC.

    D&D 3.x 3E publishers and 4E: Who's in, who's out?

I can't imagine it would make much business sense for the larger 3rd party companies to stick with 3.5 after 4th is released. The market for third party 3.5 is already pretty small, and it will just get smaller, and they'd be missing out on the bump in sales that the new edition will spark.

To WotC: How to Pick Up Girls

If girls don't care about 4e, it's because they don't, in general, care much about the gritty specifics of rules systems at all (there are exceptions, of course.) I bet you'll find just as few female 3e diehards as you will female 4e enthusiasts. Is even there such thing as a female grognard?

    Death of Simulation?

What have you heard about 4e that implies you won't be able to keep playing the game this way?

    D&D 4E 4e Dungeon Design - New Article

The difference is that this is hard to do if you follow 3.e encounter balance guidelines- so the change is most significant for those working on published modules.

    He said, she said

The English language is constantly changing. Even if what you say is true, there's no reason it has to stay that way.

    He said, she said

Based on previous EnWorld threads on the topic, this is not true (to put it mildly.) I like both second person pronouns, or following the gender of the iconic.

Do you want Tieflings in the phb?

It's not nearly as specific as half-orcs.

    D&D 4E Will 4E be the PS3 of D&D?

I haven't noticed a dearth of really cool 3.5 supplements (except adventures, maybe)- to me it seems more like they've been scraping the bottom of the 3e barrel. I think the timing is perfect for 4e, especially since since several other d20 games have shown how the system can be dramatically...

    D&D 4E In terms of theme, tone, and spirit, I hope 4e . . .

I'm mostly indifferent to the art itself, but after 7 years, I do think the overall look and feel of D&D books needs an overhaul. I've never liked the "faux ancient tome" theme of the book designs, and would love to see something cleaner and simpler.

Is WoTC even relevant to you anymore?

I think it's interesting that most of the people on this thread who profess to find WotC irrelevant still have lists of products they bought recently or might buy in the future. They must be doing something right. For me, WoTC is relevant, though I don't see myself buying many more D&D 3.5...

    [Gleemax]Another thing not to like.

If they wanted too, WotC could already be doing this, by reprinting material published under the OGL. With very few exceptions, they prefer to write the stuff themselves. It's pretty simple- if you're doing something you think somebody might want to pay you for, don't post it on Gleemax...

    [Gleemax]Another thing not to like.

I don't think this is even legally possible. I mean, what if I decided to post trademarked White Wolf IP on Gleemax? Nothing in the Gleemax TOS could make WotC suddenly own it. Nobody is trying to trick you. This is about content created by fans that is meant to be freely used by other fans...

    [Gleemax]Another thing not to like.

IANAL, of course, but I don't think the Gleemax TOS effects sites like Canonfire at all. If WotC considered posting WotC IP on Canonfire as "publishing," they wouldn't let you do it in the first place.

    My (Very) Mini Rant

It might seem that way, but global warming is actually caused by a decrease in the global pirate population.

    Point me to Anime

It not that bad, really, because most of the time the original joke is replaced in the translation with something that does make sense in English. If you don't read the translation notes, you don't even know it happened. I just pointed it out because I like that sort of thing.

    Point me to Anime

The best anime ever (IMHO) has yet to be mentioned in this thread: Azumanga Daioh The premise -the mundane daily life of a group of normal high school girls- might not sound like much, but it's by far both the most sophisticated and funny anime I've seen. There's not anything to compare it to...
