How Do You Deal With Splatbooks?

Anything by WotC or Malhavoc Press. In theory, at least. In practice, there's a lot of stuff by both WotC and Malhavoc Press that the players never consider using. They each have favorite products that they use more than any other.

Need help dealing with a melee character in a predominately ranged combat setting...

What makes a melee character unviable in Dragonstar? Are there no hi-tech melee options to go along with the hi-tech ranged options? Melee characters work fine in other gun-heavy fantasy settings, like Shadowrun, for example.

Forgotten Realms (and others) Maps Navigator

The Google Maps API has everything you'd need to know: http://www.google.com/apis/maps/ I'd love it someone did this for Ptolus- the map is detailed enough to go all the way to street level, just like a real map.

    D&D Alumni Article on Devils

Maybe that's the reason most of the DiTerlizzi stuff was excluded- it was from a campaign setting, not "core" D&D. Just guessing.

    Shamus does AoO

I don't understand why anyone would be offended by the comic... As others have pointed out, the specifics of the conversation aren't the point. It could have used any number of mechanics from any number of systems to make the same joke. And come on- it's not exactly news that some people have...

    Gaming across the US

There is in fact gaming in Jackson, and even a group that maintains a public gaming area in the basement of a building downtown (or they used to, at least.) I can't imaging choosing it over some of the other options in the OP, though. Jackson is a dreary place.

White Wolf's secret Project involves Monte?

Someone from White Wolf confirmed this on the rpg.net thread. No new details, just the title and release date.

White Wolf's secret Project involves Monte?

I don't even know what to make of this. More details, please!

    A campaign I'm fed up with. . .

Well, if you're not going to quit, why not just loosen up a bit and try to have some fun with it? You're not helping the game by sticking around just to complain and criticize.

A Game of Thrones (RR MARTIN) - The RPG: Tell me About it, please

Hey Dark Seraph, that's a HUGE spoiler for those that haven't gotten as far in the books as you yet...

    Mearls Monster Makeover: Beholder

If the result of making the game more like DDM is "easy to resolve effects," I'm all for it.

    Dungeon Tiles - Storing?

The dungeon tiles totally should have come in a box. I've even caught myself eyeing my Rappan Athuk Reloaded box to store them in.

Ptolus Adventure Maps: Shilukar's Lair now available!

The book does come with one mini-scale map, on the CD. But to answer the earlier question- the only free Ptolus pdfs I know of are the Ptolus Players Guide and the Ptolus Bonus Map Pack. Everything else you have to pay for, wether you own the book or not.

    David Noonan on D&D Complexity

Does David Noonan need to find a new game? Oops, sounds like your players might not be cut out for this D&D stuff, either.

    October Previews

Scourge of the Howling Horde "introduces an all-new encounter format designed to make it easier for Dungeon Masters to run memorable adventures." But also, Expedition to Castle Ravenloft "features a new, easy-to-use combat encounter format." And then, Red Hand of Doom "features a new format...

Do reserve feats make the Warlock redundant?

Do you mean the fighter? Or maybe the rogue? :p

"What" you are versus "who" you are.

Well, starting at 1st level, they can't have done anything that would be significant enough to gain experience points, at least. 1st level characters really do need to be "fresh from the farm," so to speak. Their adventures haven't started yet, or else they wouldn't be 1st level.

    Forgotten Realms Tech Timeline?

This is a convention of fantasy in general, isn't it? Thousands and thousands of years seem to be able to pass on many fantasy worlds with little significant change to technology or society.

Expidition to Castle Ravenloft - Spoilers and Answers

Barring players with photographic memories, I don't see this as a problem at all. Having a vague idea of what the adventure entails won't ruin a player's enjoyment. Seeing the stat block might even give them a fear of the final encounter they wouldn't have had otherwise.

    roleplaying people are satanists ;)

Ah, but Tolkien, at least, was Catholic. And you can be sure that Jack Chick considers Catholicism just as satanic as D&D.
