Once per day non-magical effects destroy suspension of disbelief

I agree that basing it on any number things besides "daily" could work just as well. They all raise the same sorts of questions, which all have the same answer. I don't think it should. But obviously, if there's already an in-game reason, you don't need an out-of-game reason.

Once per day non-magical effects destroy suspension of disbelief

You've left out the "Players are granted narrative control to decide when favorable circumstances occur" solution. What's your take on that one?

    Amazon Delays on 4e

It's always a risk when pre-ordering though Amazon. Sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes there's a price to pay for the, er, price.

    Female opinions, please

This point is of limited relevence, becasue the vast majority of mammals don't have breasts.

Goodman Games Releasing 4e Adventures Prior to October 1st

I'm pretty sure the GSL allows you to include stats. You just can't reprint stats from the books. I think pemerton is saying that going copyright only, including stats at all is questionable because a large amount of WotC IP is required to make sense of them. Not arguing the point myself, btw...

    Female opinions, please

So far, it sounds like gender signifies nothing about 4e opinion.

    4e Cosmology Changes

Where does it say that 4e astral dominions are finite?

    4e Cosmology Changes

I like the new cosmology because it's very inclusive- you can drop anything into the Astral Sea. I'd already been using this concept in 3e, by way of the Malhavoc Press "Endless Worlds" cosmology. I'm still a big fan of the Great Wheel and Planescape, but I don't have an emotional investment...

Running D&D in a boardgame style

You might want to take a look at Dungeon Bash: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=19159&it=1 It's an attempt to do exactly with with the d20 ruleset. Swapping in 4e character creation and combat probably wouldn't take much work.

    Annoying Conspiricy Thread

Like a lot of the "controversial" passages in the 4e books, it could just as easily be attributed to poor wording as to malice. You could interpret it several different ways.

First 3rd Party Product available already...

It's ridiculous to think that a decision to not buy an RPG accessory product needs to be justified at all. It doesn't work that way, unless your support of 3rd party material borders on religious fanaticism.

Question about GSL - Scott please comment

Yeah, this is the part that confuses me. How you can be held to the terms of a license that you're no longer using? Maybe it only applies as long as you have a GSL product still in print.

    Mike Mearls On the OGL

It's strange how many people in this thread claim to disagree with mearls, but counter with the exact argument he was making.

Seriously? No cat and slipcover pics yet?

I was all set to shove my cat into a slipcase and take a picture... Until I actually got the slipcase and saw that this would clearly be impossible to accomplish without damaging both the slipcase and myself.

What kind of PC game do you want from 4E?

    Turn-based combat.

    Edition Wars: The Game

To make it work mechanically, all you'd really need to do is convert the 3e saves to defenses and the 4e defenses to saves.

DM refuses to switch; players want to

I don't know- I think good, dedicated players are hard to come by. I value the players I have, and have rarely had good experiences recruiting new ones. So I give my players a lot of say in what and how we play. That said, I still get the biggest say.
