This thread is tagged D&D2024. Why wouldn't we be using 2024 rules?

    D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

Exactly. The damage spells don't keep up to hit point inflation and a lot of control spells don't actually end combats. The "but spellcasters" characters spinning their wheels without the martial support to work with.

Are you claiming DM's don't allow which supplements are allowed in their campaigns?

    D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

Casting fear and then having opponents save means the spell slot is gone and there's still a fight that will cost more spell slots. Casting fear and then having opponents fail, flee, and then eventually no longer be affected to return costs a slot and delays combat. That ends a combat and then...

That's not entirely reliable given some opponents are immune, and in that dungeon the mages will save about a third of the time. We can't assume spells are successful either.

A lot of the creatures in that dungeon are immune and those creatures who aren't can come back. There are several mages, constructs, and devils in that one. A party cannot clear the dungeon on fear alone.

You definitely said "blindly". Dungeons are part of the adventure. It doesn't have to be a dungeon crawl. A similar experience in a forest with that many areas can go exactly the same. It's only really esthetically different. You should start counting you spell slots used though. Arcane...

You don't know the temperature and weather by teleporting in. That's going to take more spells. If it's below 0F that's a saving throw every hour. Between not knowing the temp before teleporting in and possible teleportation to the wrong location via error this is a risk. Mansion is also a...

    D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

Except lots of adventures do have many traps and per your criteria I don't know if this one does or doesn't. I've been in adventures that require opening a lot of locks too. I don't care if the wizard in the B time might have knock prepped when he needs to cast it 10 times alerting everything...

But I can do it sooooo many times. It's not like a wizard casting charm person can achieve more with it than that same ability check. My argument is I can do a lot still and do it more often than spell slots can keep up. Spell slots can sometimes do more and bigger things on that limited...

Your clone wouldn't have a spell slot to cast simulacrum because you've already used that slot up casting the first simulacrum. I don't think game statistics at the time of casting refills used spell slots.

There were arguments that the bladesinger was using up their spell slots on false life, shield, and song of defense. The issue there is that doesn't leave much room for those other damaging spells. Bladesingers cannot use the same spell slot on 2 different things so one or the other or both...

    D&D 5E (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

Bards are also weak. They gain much of their rep from magical secrets taking from the wizard list post level 10 as well. I think arcane recovery is better than the small bonus to skills at low levels and bardic inspiration. I don't think there's much of an argument for any spellcaster at...

    D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

Control weather is also a concentration spell, requires gradual increases, doesn't last as long as the required time to cast simulacrum, and there's still no guarantee a wizard has control weather in their spell books. They select 4 or 5 of the 13 options while leveling up and the rest still...

Soooooo...... A bladesinger isn't in the 2024 rules. That has to be allowed from past splats by the DM. That option isn't indicative of all spellcasters and doesn't have all the abilities of all spellcasters either. Training in War and Song is not a good ability. The wizard is just trading...

The simulacrum spell is restrictive enough to avoid abuse on it's own. It's the wish spell that causes problems. Easy solution is to ban the wish spell from the table.

No, I don't think I would have fun with absolute drek. A better way of phrasing it is I will have fun with any of the 2024 classes / subclasses. I'm sure it's possible to make something I don't like too.
