D&D 5E (2024) Not a fan of the new Eldritch Knight

Did you mean Potent Spellcasting instead of Potent Cantrip? That is restricted to cleric cantrips. I gave Potent Cantrip from the Evoker subclass. Yeah, updating the arcana cleric to 2024 rules would treat wizard cantrips added through Arcane Initiate as cleric spells.

Nope. Magic Initiate doesn't give sorcerers spells prepared from a class feature so Innate Sorcery wouldn't apply to spells from it. It seems to stem from additional restrictions on spellcasters, primarily related to multiclassing, based on negative feedback from popular splash builds. It's...

You're missing this part of spellcasting under sorcerer: Subclass spells count as sorcerer spells. This is the same language used for bards, clerics, druids, paladins, rangers, sorcerers, warlocks, and wizards. Seems intentional. ;-)

    D&D 5E (2024) Complete Champion : Fighter Tier List

We need to be careful with that. Attunement requiring being a spellcaster is not the same thing as attunement requiring being a wizard. EK's are spellcasters and qualify for those items, but they aren't wizards.

RAW Innate Sorcery doesn't work on those examples. Contrast that to the language Metamagic uses. Innate Sorcery does specify your sorcerer spells while Metamagic can be applied to any spell the sorcerer casts. Any DM or player who does otherwise either doesn't know the RAW or is choosing to...

    D&D 5E (2024) Complete Champion : Fighter Tier List

Being a spellcaster also means having access to attune some magic items (particularly wands), and being able to use an arcane spell focus includes some Bastions options if they're being used. Minor additional perks. A person might get into crafting magic items for flavor too. I find this...

D&D 5E (2024) Not a fan of the new Eldritch Knight

I agree that EK's should be able to use their bonded weapon as a spell focus, but it would still apply to their wizard spells. Clerics and paladins have leeway because holy symbols don't need to be held, only worn. and That's an advantage to playing a cleric or paladin. They only need to...

Except you need to be holding the quarterstaff to cast Shillelagh on it. and so the EK cannot juggle it. One hand is holding the weapon, the other hand needs to be available to use the material and somatic components; therefore, the EK gives up their shield to cast Shillelagh in combat...

    D&D 5E (2024) Complete Champion : Fighter Tier List

It's not powerful, but it does appeal to our inner gambler. Definitely better than the previous version. Move on a crit gets back to having fun with our inner gambler. I tend to mix dueling with archery and use DEX for both styles of combat. I'm not sure I'm going to continue this practice...

    D&D 5E (2024) Complete Champion : Fighter Tier List

IMO battlemaster is still the best; or at least the most fun. This also adds an additional superiority die at levels 7 and 15. I think there's been a relatively significant paradigm shift moving from 2014 to 2024 rules with superiority dice and maneuvers because of weapon mastery. 2014...

D&D 5E (2024) Not a fan of the new Eldritch Knight

I think there's some confusion going on somewhere. The issue is that a person cannot use the quarterstaff as a focus to cast Shillelagh because there is both a material component and a somatic component unless Shillelagh counts as a class spell spell through the means of acquisition, which...

D&D 5E (2024) Not a fan of the new Eldritch Knight

Here's the EK entry: The EK can't cast Shillelagh at all unless the have some mistletoe (the material component) or a spell component pouch. Here's the druid entry: Spells added that the PC might also use must be added through a class feature to count as "your druid spells". This is...

    D&D General Cleric/Rogue

Before giving much advice I would ask what it is about each class you like? As for how the classes fit together any god representing roguishness or thievery or related similar concepts works. You might consider Autolycus as a magical robber associated with Hermes.

That's an apples to oranges comparison. EK's should be compared to other fighter subclasses. Fighters and Wizards are too dissimilar to compare in that way.

D&D 5E (2014) The 2024 Ranger is Actually Pretty Good (with numbers)

Divine Favor is different in that it's less damage, 1/60th of the duration, and adds no additional features like advantage on skill checks. Hunter's Mark has concentration because it's significantly better in those other aspects. That's not hard to do over a minute of duration. I would...

D&D 5E (2014) The 2024 Ranger is Actually Pretty Good (with numbers)

Rangers already have plenty of 1st level slots. 4 of them at 5th level as opposed to 4 of them at 3rd level on a full caster. Rangers, unlike paladins, have a lot more room to cast those other ranger spells because they gain free castings of Hunter's Mark. Hunter's Mark also lasts long enough...

D&D 5E (2014) The 2024 Ranger is Actually Pretty Good (with numbers)

Right. Those given uses are better for the ranger because they facilitate recasting the spell as needed. Those other classes lose spell slots to dropped concentration on recasts. That's true for rangers too. They prepare between 2 and 15 spells on the class progression table and add...

D&D 5E (2014) The 2024 Ranger is Actually Pretty Good (with numbers)

TBF, domain spells, circle spells, and magical secrets offer plenty of concentration spells in addition to those class lists. Favored Enemy allows for dropping concentration on Hunter's Mark because the free uses means it can easily be recast. Hunter's Mark can be up most of the time. Just...

I think you misspoke. Druids have training in light armor and shields. Warden upgrades to medium armor.

The ranger also has options like conjure barrage or lightning arrow. I also don't think 14 DEX as a backup is bad. It's just not as good as a character specialized in DEX. I think 8 DEX is bad and 10 DEX is still better than nothing.
