Way to get girls (?!): the new column for the new Dragon.

I have been informed that humorous grognard elitists are very concerned with the level of traffic on their lawns and the intrusion of the youth thereon. Thus a true grognard will burst from his domicile, robe aflutter amid uncomfortable breezes, crying, "I abjure thee, callow trodders on the verge!"

Mr. Kiznit, are you trying to seduce me? :)

Way to get girls (?!): the new column for the new Dragon.

If you're into woman (meaning no offense to any women reading) but I'm all about that DM of hers. :)

    Folklore/Mythology is your game?

Take care with your fingers. If it tastes blood it'll become unstoppable. Do you want to be the guy with the paper cut that doomed the world?

Way to get girls (?!): the new column for the new Dragon.

I started reading about her teacher, then skipped down to where she was talking about her DM. That part of the article was great. Her DM sounds great. Good hair. He cooks. Sense of humor. Dimples. I want to hear more about him. Also, maybe some pictures.

    Folklore/Mythology is your game?

Not at all. I never knew the man nor had any emotional bond to him or his work. I just happened to know when he died and wanted to share the information in the interests of accuracy. If the first printing of the Wraith book came with a pop-up, talking Joe Campbell skull I might want to pick one...

    Folklore/Mythology is your game?

Can't have been. He died in '87 and Wraith came out in '94.

Eadric et. al. (The Paladin and his Friends).

I'm pretty sure Sep means Divine Rank 0.

    Folklore/Mythology is your game?

I've pretty directly stolen the Roman Empire and feudal France for homebrews before. Shamelessly, even. I used GURPS Rome to help flesh out my Rome analog. But I'm not interested in recreating Roman folklore. I'm more interested in saying things like "these people have a culture and government...

DM Tip Jar -- is that going too far?

My players used to jokingly offer me bribes. I told them I only accepted large bills or, to riff an old SNL skit, "Ten minutes in the Woodshed...anything goes."

Hey while you're at it WOTC.

Without hesitation. Jumping on people with lots of sharp objects on their person is a bit dangerous, don't you think?

Hey while you're at it WOTC.

If you're going by that standard, then we need to remove natural reach from daggers. It's an abstraction, not a field of ultimate decapitation. PCs don't fill every millimeter of their five foot square with their own body mass or a constantly swirling field of steel either.

Hey while you're at it WOTC.

There is another square five feet above you just as there is one five feet in front of you. Movement is movement is movement is movement forever and ever. Anything else seems silly. I vaguely recall this being spelled out in the Manual of the Planes... Yes, it's the clear implication of the...

D&D 4E Simple Poll - How do you feel about 4E Right Now?

3e is very nearly the perfect game for my tastes, and yes I mean that at high levels too. As what of 4e we've seen already represents major design and philosophical changes that must be either marketing hype or direct rejections of the 3.x paradigm, I have virtually no interest in 4e. The number...

Is 4th edition getting soft? - edited for friendly content :)

I played with one of those DMs back in 2002. Every dungeon had a no-save, instant-death, not telling you how trap. The only think you're missing is the rule that you always start back at first level with zero XP. Yes, this did amount to "Poof! you're dead! ha! start over." When I suggested that...

    James Wyatt + FR!?

The Avatar Trilogy used to claim to be best-sellers. I think DL proved the novel+game tie-in was a great seller, sure. It's the first time that I know of that TSR tried it. I suspect it's a mix. I read some of the novels and run the setting. I do know that some years ago there was a...

    James Wyatt + FR!?

I suspect that happened the moment Dragonlance became a best-seller. At the time, I'm sure the people at TSR saw no reason to do any differently. It's only dozens of best-selling blow-up-the-world trilogies later that the problems with the novel-driven setting as a gaming medium became apparent...

    James Wyatt + FR!?

It was transplanted from elsewhere. Douglas Niles wrote the first trilogy under the plan that it would be a Dragonlance UK sort of thing, set somewhere off and away from the main body of Ansalon. When those plans fell through, the series was mostly written so they just tied it into the Realms...

    Disaffected and Affected Setting fans!

Greyhawk What hooked me?/Lost me I was never especially hooked. Some of it is fun and entertaining but a lot of it is rife with some of the D&Disms I find most irritating. The naming conventions are truly awful. I can forgive mundane names, especially if they're meant to signal that the...
