Any advice on running a low-magic-item campaign?

Tell that to all of the DMs who have run very successful low-magic-item games. There are several Story Hours here on this site (most notably Fajitas' Halmae campaign, and el-remmen's Out of the Frying Pan campaign) describing low-magic-item games. They should provide some useful inspiration.

When a warrior stands at the wrong end of a crossbow...

You could always call it a coup de grace... :D On a more balanced note, if you have the drop on your target and a readied action to shoot them, I'd deny the target a Dexterity bonus. And you never know if the Baron has a few levels of Rogue, with the sneak attack damage that comes with it.

    Web and Diamtrically Opposed

I'd allow it to anchor to anything, as long as it only occupied the space between anchor points. So it could anchor to the two walls in a corner, but only the corner itself would be filled by webs; the webbing wouldn't spill out into the rest of the room. And don't forget that you can anchor...

    Did You Marry a Gamer?

My boyfriend and I are both gamers. We would marry if we could legally do so.

When was the Golden Age of Dragon magazine?

I, too, agree. Mind you, I also agree with Quasqueton; I started reading at issue #40. :)

Four new teleportation spells for review

Better than Dimension Door? You are aware that Dimension Door lets you 1) pass through walls and other obstructions, and 2) take the entire party with you, right? Reasonable enough. I suppose the inherent flexibility of any kind of teleportation merits a 2nd-level minimum. It just feels odd...

"Out of the Frying Pan"- Book IV - Into the Fire [STORY HOUR COMPLETED - 12/25/06]

Yep, he controls Gunthar. Believe me, it's hard enough writing down all the quotes while handling one end of the conversation; there was no way I'd handle both. :D

What abilities are abusable if reusable?

Transmutation and destruction effects. Destroying a cubic foot of stone or turning a copper piece into gold is fine by itself, but when scaled up, you can gnaw away a castle's foundations or make a fortune in gold.

A Lecture on the Birth of Universes

I see no reference to the Elemental Planes in your schema, sir. How do they originate, and to which of the Source Planes is each element aligned? Most scholars agree that the Earth Plane is associated with the Materium and the Air Plane with the Negative Material plane; however, Ferramentum...

Four new teleportation spells for review

Note that the spatial step spells require line of sight, unlike dimension door (or, presumably, dimension hop), which allows you to teleport through walls and such. I felt that would be a significant balancing factor. Would this affect your assessment of their utility?

    Attacked on introduction?

I hear that Questing Beast makes a great stew. :D

What, no eldritch knight? Appalling! :D

Four new teleportation spells for review

... because instantaneous movement shouldn't just be for casters of level 7 and up. :D ---- Spatial Step, Lesser Conjuration (Teleportation) Level: Sor/Wiz 1 Components: V Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft. / 2 levels) Target: You and touched objects Duration...

Will Saves Modified by Charisma (Also a New Save: Perception)

That seems like a bad situation, balance-wise; there are enough cool illusion and abjuration spells to make those specializations worthwhile without throwing in an improved saving throw.

    Turning Variant

Interesting. This system has the potential to give some very different results; a level 1 cleric could potentially turn a vampire or lich, which is impossible under the current system. (This can easily be remedied by limiting turning to undead whose hit dice do not exceed the cleric's level +...

Servant of Bone - Magic of Mlachdarr

You need to specify whether sacrificed points are gone temporarily or permanently (I assume permanently). If the loss is permanent, you also need to specify whether any restorative magics, such as greater restoration, limited wish, wish or miracle, will renew the sacrificed points.

Three new prismatic spells for review.

... because you can never have too many prismatic spells. Though one of them is actually a conversion of the flagon variant of the rainbow spell from the 1e Unearthed Arcana. ---- Prismatic Armor Abjuration Level: Wiz/Sor 7 Components: V, S Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Personal...

    Stirges.. Most broken monster ever.

Call me crazy, but if you're actually in a situation in which stirges are attacking non-humanoids, you should probably scale the amount of Con damage accordingly. You can't seriously argue that a stirge's beakful of blood inflicts the same amount of Con damage on a dragon and a pixie.

    Can you Jump when Levitating?

I think it's pretty clear that Newton's laws don't apply here. Does a levitating character drift off on the slightest breeze? Does the spell description say anything about being weightless or massless or anything of the sort? (Answer: no, it doesn't.) It gives explicit rules for what happens...
