Could you play in a fantasy world without clerics

You're jumping to an unsupported conclusion, Henry. The OP asked whether people would play in a world without clerics, not if they would play in a world without healing spells. I, for one, run a game without clerics, but I've opened the entire clerical spell selection to arcane casters.

    Who needs the cleric class?

In my campaign, I removed the divine spellcasting classes and assigned their spells to the arcane spellcasters. Belonging to the priesthood has nothing to do with your character class.

    Strategies for flexible homebrews?

First thing, you need to decide what it is you want out of your homebrew. So, what do you want out of your homebrew? :D

The need for social skills in D&D

Here's the combat equivalent of "I bluff them": Player: "I hit for 12 damage." DM: "Huh? Which ogre are you attacking? And are you using your bow or your sword?" Player: "Stop asking me questions! I hit for 12 damage!" Social die rolls need at least as much context.

    Fantasy Ranks

This is a fair point if the PCs would already have that information. If they don't, however, then it adds a neat exploratory element to encounters with the Sun Elves as the players try and figure out how the rank system works. :D Staff officers could be Coronals , though the name works...

Weapons you wished you'd see sometimes.

My new fighter totes a heavy flail. Of course, we do have some house rules involving knockdown and variable armor benefits versus different weapon types that make it a lot more useful than in vanilla 3.x rules, so I'm not sure that counts. :D

Dealing With The Fun Of Area of Effect Spells

You have options other than "all in one big group" and "spread out 30 feet apart". Try a range of other formations: lines, columns, small squads, encirclements, pincer movements, etc.

How do you rule on quarter-races?

I agree that there shouldn't be mechanical benefits for quarter-race blood. But if you disregard this recommendation and provide such benefits, then you must have a corresponding penalty to balance it out. Otherwise, why would anyone ever play a human again?

Deck of Many Things: Your experiences and advice?

That looks pretty awesome. It would be tempting to use as a mundane tarot-like fortune telling deck in a D&D game.

You Got Peanut Butter in My Chocolate...D&D and Science-Fiction

Weapon technologies affect individual and small-unit combat in very different ways than they affect combat on the army scale. You can't use arrow storms, shield walls or musket volley fire in single combat.
