Extra! Extra! Ancient Dragon Rampages Kingdom!

I believe that the Spell Compendium contains a spell that reduces SR, and another that reduces DR. Once your wizards peg the dragon with a couple such spells, the massed crossbow fire will be much more effective.

What percentage of your campaigns have good conclusions?

Campaign 1 (Ars Magica): Petered out when a key player moved back to her home country Campaign 2 (Vampire LARP): Came to a sudden, crashing halt when PC conflicts escalated out of control in a single session, leaving the city in flames and most of the PCs either dead or in self-imposed exile...

Homebrews - The Place of Dragons in our Cosmologies

In my heavily Norse-themed campaign, the great elder dragons gnaw on the roots of Yggdrasill, the World Tree. As these ancient wyrms have little to do but eat, sleep and engage in carnal relations, the world is subjected to regular waves of newly-hatched wyrmlings crawling up Yggdrasill's roots...

Two 10th level Spell Slots at 20th level???

You don't need to have 10th level spells in your campaign for 10th level spell slots to be useful. Just use them for metamagic!

D&D, house rules, and other game systems

Back when I played and ran a lot of Vampire, there was a lot of house ruling. The two times I ran Vampire (one tabletop game, one LARP), we had house rules all over the damn place; the tabletop game's ruleset was almost unrecognizable.

Rod of Cancellation vs Random Deflector

Prismatic sphere is fixed on a point in space; it is not targeted on an object. So there's no such thing as casting a prismatic sphere on a tower shield.

    Where are hte polearms?

One might presume the existence of higher-level variants of create food and water with a more efficient output. Say, a 7th-level variant that created enough food and water for 100 people per caster level?

Is Ptolus living up to the hype?

FWIW, I recall that someone posted here (or maybe on RPG.net) about how he inserted the city of Ptolus into his Eberron campaign. So you do have the option of using both settings at once. :D

    Who Kills Your PCs?

There's really not much to it. I used to run lots of one-shot Amber Diceless games, using the "Throne War" scenario. That's the one where the PCs are all members of the same royal family, and the scenario ends when one of them ascends to the throne. The carnage in some of those games was...

What do you think of these metamagic feats?

Looks perfectly clear to me; an abrupt spell takes a move action rather than a standard action, allowing you to cast an abrupt spell and take a standard action in the same turn. The text could use some cleaning up, but the basic function of the spell is pretty obvious.

    Who Kills Your PCs?

The vast majority of PC deaths in my games have been deliberate PC-on-PC killings, but the games I've run with PC fatalities have all been Amber DRPG. :D

    Command Undead....overpowered?

On the other hand, it bypasses the usual undead immunities to mind-affecting spells and to death effects. The ability to compel a lich to reveal the location of its phylactery is priceless.

    Command Undead....overpowered?

It's like the difference between charm person and dominate person, but unlike dominate person, control undead is able to affect multiple targets. 5 levels sounds about right.

    DM gone crazy?

I'd split those extra levels between Sorcerer and Rogue. You could use the extra spells known and spells per day, and it sounds like your style really cries out for more sneak attack dice. :D

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

You guys make it sound like this gang will get the opportunity to replace their losses. What you don't understand is that this isn't high fantasy, this is horror. The Doomed Bastards really are doomed. :p

Magic weapons also increase damage dealt, so any increase in BAB should also include a corresponding increase to damage.

Welcome to the Halmae (updated 2/27/07)

That's quite a death toll! And well told, as usual. Why didn't Reyu's summoned bear reappear after the Count dismissed the antimagic field?

The Magician (a campaign-specific core class)

And this can replace Amplify Spell, Penetrating Spell and Potent Spell: Enhance Spell [Metamagic] You can cast spells with greater power than normal. Benefit: An enhanced spell adds +2 to your caster level for that spell, and increases the spell’s save DC by 1. An enhanced spell uses up a...

The Magician (a campaign-specific core class)

Let's just go with the PHBII's Metamagic Specialization ability: Improved Metamagic [Metamagic] You are adept in the use of metamagic. Prerequisites: Any two metamagic feats. Benefit: You do not take more time to cast a metamagic spell (one enhanced by a metamagic feat) than you do to cast a...
