    Sweet Cover Art?

I'm going to go with the original cover of Rifts by Keith Parkinson. it's just incredibly well-rendered bizarreness of a sort that really appeals to me. I still don't know what that thing (or things) is/are, and I don't really want to. Game stats would sully it, honestly. But Parkinson could...

    The popularity of monsters

My votes likely were meaningless because I've used them all. That said, if we hadn't used them all (and in fact, pretty much every MM monster) at some point in playtesting of 3E, you'd have every right to be upset with me, I think.

Rappan Athuk Reloaded: Is it worth it?

I spent the better part of last night going through the boxed set. I really like it. It's not without it's flaws (it's got some editing problems that are frequent but minor from what I can tell), but it's a nice package. I like a lot of Necromancer stuff, but I was never tempted to run Rappan...

    Gen Con Reports?

And now both have been added to my vocabulary. Hilarious! (Although sorry about the game.)

    Bye Monte!

But Ptolus isn't like other campaign setting books. It has pre-made adventures in there for you. In other words, it's like I wrote the "follow on products" ahead of time and put them in the book. Normally I don't get too involved in this kind of discussion, but the cramped for time DM is...

    Bye Monte!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. That's much appreciated.

Last day to preorder Ptolus - should I?

I see this stated a lot on forums and it's close, but not 100% accurate. Ptolus is indeed not a "special edition" of some other book. It is the book. There won't be a "trimmed down" or a "even more deluxe" version later. Frankly, I wouldn't know how to realistically do either option anyway...

    Monte Cook and Levels

Don't remember where I wrote about it, but the concept is simple, and goes to the very heart of the game and player psychology. Levels serve not only a measure of power (which is very handy) but much more importantly they're a carrot on a stick to keep players playing. You can always look ahead...

Is The Orc and The Pie a well-designed adventure module?

Like Schrodinger's Orc. Or would it be Schrodinger's Pie? You don't know if it's monster or treasure until you go on the adventure.

Nothing to see here - mod please delete

No, I'll be there. I just can't make Elaine's signing session.

Sum up the Diamond Throne Setting

That's always a good point. Diamondthrone.com is amazing. Well, as I've been playing Ptolus lately, no. But I did run a Diamond Throne campaign and it was great fun. I don't play Planescape, Dark Matter, Call of Cthulhu, etc. either at the moment, but that doesn't mean I don't like them. I...

Someone profitting off of Ptolus by ripping people off?

No one's trying to rip anyone off. It's unfortunately a somewhat confusing situation. While I didn't have anything to do with it, I can tell you that this is what the sticker in question says: "16113wwp Players Guide to Ptolus (5 pack) $14.95 Contents: 5 x 16116 Players Guide to Ptolus...

    Current print publishers

Right. So, if you discount our biggest d20 book ever (and it's follow-up adventure and other stuff), we're not doing d20 support.

    Current print publishers

Nice. "Not counting the most deluxe d20 product ever, with over a 1000 total pages of content, a line of support products including miniatures, and a comic book series, Malhavoc's days of general d20 support seem over." Hard to please? A bit? Might as well say that not counting starring in...

Ptolus #1 - The Comic Book is now available (as a PDF too!)

Hungerswords appeared in the Complete Book of Eldritch Might (originally in Book of Eldritch Might II, I think). Sheva is a character in the setting book (many of the characters in the comic are).

    Guns in D&D?

Lots of good links to historical firearms info. Keep in mind, however, that the D&D rules already hold Medieval realism at arms length in order to make the game more fun. I would highly recommend doing with firearms what seems more fun than worrying about realism in a game that already deals...

    Guns in D&D?

I've been thinking in the last few days that it would be cool to also have a feat that allowed you to add your Int bonus to firearm damage. It sort of seems like a natural (using intellect to know just how to aim, etc.) and I like the idea of the firearm being the weapon of the smart...

    Githyanki Giant Series Duskblade

Hey, that's pretty cool. I like the idea of using the Githyanki here for something different. Duskblade is OK. I also wouldn't hesitate to use the Eldritch Knight. (I've long wanted to use the mage blade from Arcana Evolved as a githyanki fighter/mage, what with the class' focus on a single...

Maybe, but I doubt it. I don't remember anyone ever suggesting it before.

Ptolus #1 - The Comic Book is now available (as a PDF too!)

Nope, no stats in the comic book, although we'll be including some stats on our website for stuff that appears in the comics. For example, this week we'll be giving the stats for Sheva's modified hungersword.
