AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

Thanks! Jen and I talk about it from time to time, but we're both just so busy. At one point we got so far as to start talking to the manager of another investigation spot--there's a bar in Seattle that used to be a mortuary and supposedly is haunted--but it never came together. I love film...

AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

    1. Absolutely not. I'm sorry that we're so behind on dealing with customer requests. This is our #1 priority right now, and I assure you we'll get everything worked out. We always hold back enough copies of everything to ensure not only every Kickstarter backer gets what they originally backed...

AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

    1. If I could, I'd still be a fiction writer and/or work on video games (I guess it depends on what you mean by gaming industry). Way back when, though, I thought if I didn't work on games I would have got an advanced degree in psychology, specifically having to do with research, and...

AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

Thanks! There is a Spanish version of Numenera published in Spain by Holocubierta Ediciones.

AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

    1. I don't ever force things on players that they don't want. If that was my group, I'd roll with it, and give them stuff to explore with their tricorders. 2. There's always more secrets. I'd default to the character the player wants to play, within reason. I mean, if someone said, "I want to...

AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

    1. Hmm. Maybe something using the Primal Order? Gods are pretty bad-ass. I'd probably put on Muse, Black Holes and Revelations. 2. I actually think all of Numenera is a return to the paradigms of Planescape. 3. Will you sign my book? 4. Would you like some cake? 5. This happens every now and...

AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

I know it maybe sounds like a copout, but I don't really have anyone to tell me that I can't do what I want, so there isn't anything in this category. There's still plenty I want to do, but I'm currently working on them or planning for them in the future.

AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

Hello everyone! Wow. Lots of questions. I don't know how many I'm going to be able to get through at a time, but I'm here all week! 1. Yes, there's a very good chance of at least a couple of support products. I don't know exactly what form they'll take, though. 2. Nope.

AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

Starting August 10, 2015, I will be holding an AMA right here on EN World! So, what would you guys like to talk about? Of interest to ENWorlders, I've been professionally designing games for 27 years, and have worked on Rolemaster, Champions, and D&D 2E, including Planescape, and a little Dark...

It's D&D's 40th anniversary. Tell me your D&D history, and what it means to you!

I heard about D&D for the first time in Sunday school. Two brothers were talking about what they had done the night before and their conversation involved graph paper, a magic crown, some kind of monster, and traps. I had no idea what they were talking about, but I knew I wanted in. That was...

Anyone received their hard copy yet?

Just popping in to say that I'm really glad you guys are enjoying the book. To those of you that were KS supporters (or preorderers) your support is particularly appreciated, but in truth I appreciate you all. For those of you (particularly in Europe) that it's taken a while, thanks for your...

    Tales from the Ninth World

Thanks for the kind words! I hope you enjoy Numenera when it comes out.

    Numenera - Uk Availability/Release Date

Your favorite local UK retailer should be able to sell you a copy in the latter half of August. Make sure you tell him or her you want one, so they will be certain to stock enough. Thanks for your interest! (Speaking of the UK, I will be at Nine Worlds Geekfest in London at the beginning of...

    The "Lost" Planescape Sigil Book

If memory serves, City of Doors was going to be a Sigil sourcebook based on some rough notes leftover by Zeb (maybe?) that got folded entirely into Faction War. City of Sin wasn't a Planescape product. It was a setting by Bruce Cordell to support Book of Vile Darkness (3e version, not 4e). It...

Awesome Ptolus Vinyl Map - HUGE

We printed about 6,000, but only the first 1,000, all pre-ordered, were signed and numbered.

Best old style AD&D dungeon crawlers ever

In the vein of White Plume Mountain (a bit kooky, but fun), I actually prefer Ghost Tower of Inverness. I just ran a group through it and we had a great time. The room with the fire giant is still, in my mind, one of the classic D&D encounters of all time.

Chicago Gameday 29 is July 9th: SIGN UP TO PLAY!

Please sign me up for the Danger Patrol game. I'll try to make Breakfast, too, but I'm not sure. I'll get back to you regarding an afternoon game ASAP. Thanks!

Suggestions for '10 HUge miniature set

My opinion of WotC would absolutely skyrocket if they put out a Gazebo miniature. (And you could use it as terrain/scenery, too, so it's funny and useful.)

Was there a TSR-made 3rd Edition? Forked Thread: Why THAC0 Rocks

This is exactly correct. At TSR, we tossed around 3E ideas, but that was about it. I'm sorry, but none of that sounds familiar. I never worked on the Player's Option stuff, although some of that material (created by Rich and Skip) was influential on 3E to be sure.
