WotC February 2008: City of Stormreach

    That would certainly be... surprising.

25 Years of Dungeons and Dragons

Silver Moon, that's just darned impressive, and I must say, I am envious. While I've been playing since 1978, games and gamers have come and gone, and friends (and I) have moved away. I envy the stability and the continuity in your lives. I wish I was still gaming with the guys I played with...

    LGS in Vancouver-Seattle-Portland!

In the general area, there's also Olympic Cards and Comics north of Olympia (between Seattle and Portland). It's a two story old (large) house converted into a Mecca of all things geek: comics, games, collectibles, action figures, etc. Gaby, the store owner, is very cool.

    The Tome of Psionics...?

This very cool idea was Jonathan Tweet's, not Ryan Dancey's.

Andy Collins: "Most Magic Items in D&D Are Awful"

Maybe he felt that the 12 year old needed the advice more than the 30 year veteran did. It would certainly seem that there are worse things to do with a core book than to get "a 12 year old kid up and running as a reasonable DM on his way to maturity." In fact, I'm not sure I could come up with...

    WOTC switch to watermarking, finally...

Sure. This isn't the first step. But I'll argue that it's the first big one. Until now, they've been sticking a toe into the water. Now, while they're not diving in, they are wading in. So it takes multiple steps--that's fine. But it's big for the pdf market because it brings attention to pdfs...

    WOTC switch to watermarking, finally...

This has been a long time coming, and is, pretty much hands down, the best thing that's happened to the pdf side of the market in a very, very long time. Particularly if one reads between the lines of the announcement and figures that WotC finally has some faith in the medium. Price, number of...

Temple of the Frog d20 from WotC?

It is curious, though, as to who actually owns the rights to Temple of the Frog/Blackmoor now. I had thought they were given to Dave permanently. Did they revert back to WotC recently?

More upcoming titles has been released at the WotC site

Well, if they're smart (and they are), it'll be a big book organized encyclopedia style. It will have all the rules of the game, but it won't tell you how to play. For example, there won't be a combat chapter and a magic chapter. If you want rules for Grapple you look under G and if you need...

    D&D 4E Will 4E be announced at D&D Experience?

Well, Hasbro wasn't quite in the picture yet. And I don't think too many of those "powers" were all that disconcerted. In fact, I'm pretty sure some of them might have been the very sources of at least some of those leaks. In any event, from the get-go, everyone at Wizards (other than the folks...

    D&D 4E Will 4E be announced at D&D Experience?

If by "talking stages" you mean something like this: Brand/Business Team: "And then, in 5 or 6 years, we'll do a revision to the game." Design Team: "LALALALALA. We can't hear you!" Then yes. That's basically what happened. Internally, 1997. Externally? Late 1998, I think. I don't know if...

    ICE and the ENnies

Since White Wolf's name is getting thrown around a lot by a lot of people here, I thought I'd just mention that everyone I've spoken to at White Wolf about the awards loves the ENnies.

    EN World GameStore Closing

While I believe you are 100% right, I think that the merger is a good thing for even more esoteric, but ultimately more important (long term) reasons. I'm the guy who was saying that pdfs were the next big thing for rpgs back in May of 2001 when Sue and I cobbled together the Book of Eldritch...

    What did Monte mean?

And myself as well, not to mention the work of my career of which I'm most proud. If I remember the thread, it was entitled "What do you REALLY think of d20," or something like that, which I thought was a funny thread to post here at ENWorld in the first place. So I jokingly said that it was...

    Who rules the githzerai?

Vlaakith was first named in A Guide to the Astral Plane. She's not mentioned in PSMC except as the "lich-queen." Zaerith Menyar Ag-Gith isn't named in there either. I'd guess it was Planes of Chaos where he is described (but I'm not 100% sure).

    DreamBlade. HeroScape. Anyuse in d20?

I also plan on taking a lot of my Dreamblade figs and putting them on bases for my D&D game. (Not that I don't like playing Dreamblade--it's a very cool game.) If I get around to it, I'll post on my website the stats I put together for the creatures I do end up using.
