    The Egg of WHAT?

The Egg of Coot is from module DA1, Adventures in Blackmoor. It was originally something from Dave Arneson's campaign; Blackmoor was incorporated into the Flanaess, pretty much in name only, and the Egg of Coot has much more recently come along for the ride. I think Fred Weining is to blame, but...

Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss

Naturally it's an exception when beings who are made of pure good, evil, law, balance, and/or chaos change their alignments - it's an event of similar magnitude to a water elemental becoming a pyromancer. This doesn't mean they have no free will (to the extent of not even being able to have...

Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss

Class levels are far more flavorful and interesting than "monster levels." I'd much rather read about a fiend with blackguard and warlock levels than a fiend who simply advances in hit dice. Of course they are. How else do angels fall, modrons go rogue, or demons ascend?

Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss

The Abriymoch incident is alluded to in the Manual of the Planes. "Abriymoch's foundation is said to be the grave of a deity slain by Asmodeus." - page 119.

Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss

I think that's awesome, and it's a great fix to the problem I mentioned on the previous page. If only WotC would do something similar!

Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss

That's true, to some extent. This is a problem that has only really appeared in the latest edition of the game, though, and it's one that's easily fixable by equalizing the power gap between gods and planar rulers. Just waving your hands and saying, "Bah, D&D and mythology don't make any sense...

Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss

There's that, too. And that's the most important point.

    Druids are not Hippies!

    Heh. Yeah! Druids are gangstas.

Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss

Yes, you are. It's not a "just another monster" issue, it's a matter of internal logic. If the lords of the underworld are only CR 30 or so, how the heck do they avoid being conquered by deities? When Kurtulmak can finish Asmodeus off in a few rounds and teleport away, something is very wrong...

    Druids are not Hippies!

Of course druids aren't hippies. Hippies are far too modern a concept. Druids are beatniks! (Some are flappers).

Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss

Stats for demon princes would be by far the least useful part of the book for me, and the first thing I'd like to see go if space is an issue. Many people seem to like seeing full combat stats for the lords of the planes, but just as many object to the non-epic, non-deific level at which...

    Mystara: most recent edition

Which is, it should be emphasized, more a compilation of the basic D&D rules (Basic through Masters sets, with additions from the Gazetteer series) than any kind of overview of the Mystara setting (though there was a little of that).

    Mystara: most recent edition

As others have said, this never happened. The "Poor Wizards Almanac" and "Joshuan's Almanac" books dealt with Mystara in a more comprehensive way than had ever been done before, and is probably the closest thing to what you're looking for, even though it's still not really what you're looking...

    War Trolls aren't Giants !?!?

He may figure it out, but he won't know why. All the dwarf knows is that some creatures are more like the giants he was trained to fight than others. That's what the DM should tell the player - although the creature resembles a troll in most respects, it is untroll-like in the way it fights, and...

    War Trolls aren't Giants !?!?

A lot of the creature types are completely arbitrary. I mean, is there really any anatomical, cultural, or historical connection between beholders and yuan-ti? They're conveniences for the sake of the rules, nothing more. Why is one kind of troll a giant and another kind a monstrous humanoid...

    War Trolls aren't Giants !?!?

It's the DM's perogative to trick the players by introducing unexpected stats. It discourages meta-gaming. Players shouldn't always know what a monster's weaknesses are. For example, maybe a troll is a half-fiend and therefore resistant to fire. The ranger knows trolls, but he doesn't...

Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss

There's no real detail on either of them. Lindyrm is just a name. Volisupula rules a fortress somewhere in the Abyss and owns an amulet that weakens the defenses of githzerai settlements in Limbo (and, presumedly, any anarch-stabilized chaos). Volisupula can't be too powerful, since he is...

    Greyhawk Oddities

An alliance of good-aligned deities, including Pelor and Corellon Larethian, if I remember correctly. This theory came from a forwarded email, purportedly from Carl Sargent himself. It's not my favorite take on the character.
