    Roman Campaign

That's really cool that you managed to tie in an interesting adventure against the backdrop of history. You should post your stuff on a Campaign Manager and make it public so people can read your journal or campaign notes. I'm posting my Carrion Crown AP stuff so that if anyone wants to run it...

    Handling Cheating

If I was playing with kids, I'd give them a couple of chances to shape up too. Adults, definitely not.

    Handling Cheating

I played with one gaming group in which everyone except one player at the table was cheating. It was annoying and was in my 2e days. The players simply rolled d20 and called whatever number they wanted. I quit the group and didn't come back to run anymore games for them. They got the hint. In...

    I want to tell you something...but I won't.

These are common communication issues. We have three parts--the communicator (DM), the channel (the method of communication), and the receiver (the players). We can have problems arise with any or all three parts which can make the dissemination of obvious facts to the players a difficult task...

Advice - Fixing the Escalating Numbers

I had long combats at high level because of all the options and abilities available. My group and I don't mind it because we like it a lot. However, it's not for everyone and here's some suggestions on making combat shorter: 1. Lower the HD threshold. All classes get the next lower HD. Drop...

Would you quit a game if....

I would just tell the player that character death can happen through bad dice rolls or other things and if his character dies, he's free as a player to make his own decision of what to do next.

    How do you create adventures?

I start with the end fight and goal. Then I go pick a map of what will be the environment for that end fight. I then write out a synopsis of the adventure. I build each element of the synopsis to flesh it out. I then take each element and place them on a flow chart. This way, I'll move it...

    Myth & Magic rpg

This looks really nice. I like the art and how they did ability scores. I'm curious though as to why they made wizard XP progression (slow table) a lot faster than fighter progression since the argument on the net these days is that wizards are far more powerful than fighters. But overall, I...

    The Utility of Class Rarity

One way to make classes more rarer than others is to have higher entry ability score requirements. Back in 1e AD&D, paladins had to have a Cha 17. If you did stat generation on 3d6 or 4d6 drop lowest, that made this a pretty tough class to get into.
