    L&L 3/05 - Save or Die!

I like save or die mechanics. I think they should be rare though (only one or two poisons, a handful of monsters, a handful of spells, and a handful of traps). Save or die should pretty much be reserved for high level because at lower level, massive damage from monsters, etc. should be more...

    I hate character sheets

Cool! Going electronic is something I did over a year now. All my books and tools I run off my laptop when I game, but every once in a while (like now) I wanted to create something, print it out on glossy paper, and just show it off. I thought about going to a tablet because it's smaller than...

Updating these character sheets (anyone ? Please?)

These are nice albeit "busy" for my tastes. I like the section on character background which is nice touch. The DM's sheet is particularly useful for DM's who want to use to run mercs, hirelings, and such on a single sheet. I have a thread going on this board for my own character sheet that I...

    New cleric system?

Here's my system if I was design a system. A cleric has several different types of magics available to her--blessings, litanies, rebukes, and rituals. Blessings are the lowest and easily most available kind of magic a cleric has. They are simple prayers to invoke a blessing upon the cleric or...

D&D 5E (2014) Magic items in D&D Next: Remove them as PC dependant?

There is a middle road where the PC's can be quasi-dependent on magic items. For example at the highest levels of play, if you don't have magic items, your chances of defeating the ancient red wyrm is going to be far more difficult than if you're decked out with bling. So game design can be...

What way of playing D&D is completely incompatible with your way?

I went to this game store on a road trip and this employee was running D&D Encounters for a bunch of 10 year olds. They were having a good time, excited about their characters and their cool powers and stuff, but the guy was constantly, "GUUUUUUUYS, SHUUUUUUUT UUUUUUP!" and would follow it with...

What way of playing D&D is completely incompatible with your way?

I so agree with this. Had a DM like that. He was dice aversive. He hated them, didn't own any, and didn't want to use them at his games.

What way of playing D&D is completely incompatible with your way?

Rule 0 so much that it's a homebrew game and not D&D. I don't buy into "kewl homebrew rulz that will rock D&D".

Experience for nuthin and yo chicks for free

I don't think your system is wrong at all! Matter of fact, if you think it's a good representation to: 1. Advance at a slow progression of an adventure a year 2. Keep the advancement confined to within a level per year then, I think you got something there. As for me, I have our modules at a...

That's a really cool char sheet!

    I hate character sheets

I'll have to play with it to adjust it for greyscale.

    I hate character sheets

I think...and I say with a big think...that one can link Excel to Publisher. The actual mechanics and math can be put on a char sheet in Excel, ensure the calculations are correct, but Publisher / Word can link the data and update every time the file is reopened. I'll have to go back and see if...

Have you ever been a dick player?

No, never. I never this kind of player. The closest I ever got was playing a loud-mouth thug, but I would only talk trash to monsters that we were fighting, I would never do it to other players nor would I do anything that would derail or detract from the adventure.

    I hate character sheets

Same thought occurred to me, but I can do a two-sided char sheet and that should cover all 20 levels for Pathfinder. A bigger (and in my opinion more fun) challenge will be doing something for HERO System or Rolemaster. Though I think the next char sheet that I would like to do is one for Iron...

    I hate character sheets

Well, I don't hate character sheets in general, I hate the ones that look like an Excel spreadsheet. I mean, if Pathfinder has all that awesome art, why can't we get a character sheet that looks really cool? Here's my stab at it of making one of my own. Hope ya'll like it. I did it off of...

D&D Race You Hate the Most

I never was a fan of gnomes and kender annoyed me to no end, mainly because of how other players always played them with no depth and never against type. I did enjoy one set of novels which featured a kender named Sindri Suncatcher as he was against type.

New WotC Article - The Role of Skills

For fantasy games like D&D and PF, I would like to see a skill list of about 20 skills or less. I think my own personal preference is 15. For more modern or toolkit style games, then the more's-the-better.

    D&D 5E (2014) Random Encounters in 5E

Yes, I'm very much into random encounters.
