D&D Blog - Just Bigger Numbers

Here's my take on high-level play: 1. It's going to be more complex than lower level simply because there are more options. In combat, at low-levels you moved via your feet or your mount. At high-level, you do that and you fly, teleport, phase, and so on. It's going to be the same with spells...

    Kings and Castles - Poll

I'm really into dominions, followers, cohorts, men-at-arms, and mercs. I'm also into running economy out of these dominions. These are great rules to have if you have campaigns in which go on for years or are generational campaigns. However, I think they should be optional. Some DMs will hate...

    Balancing Save-or-Die

Shucks...I really like save-or-die. There's something about working really hard to get high-level and running the risk in every fight or with a trap of going from Hero to Zero that brings a lot of tension, anxiety, but if you win, you feel elated and can breathe again....until the next...

    Identifying Magic Items

I agree with the OP, particularly for gamers who want the "Make magic wonderful and mysterious again!" If spells such as identify are unreliable or non-existent, it puts a crimp in any magic economy, because such spells are part of the weights and measures toward the establishment of any kind...

A brand new EN World in development

I think I found the secret message encoded in the post. Good luck with the transfer and hope it's seamless!

    Your Very Own 3D Printer!!!

Cool thread, but I'll wait until 3D printers drop around to $500 and we can easily print out dungeon and village terrain.

    WorldWorks models question

I would invest in their terraclips line and get yourself a cutter machine. But, if you have a bigger budget, go with Hirst Arts and build your own dungeons and village. I need to buy a couple more molds, but that's my plan.

"I don't like my Christmas present" -- do you enjoy getting treasure?

Thanks! So when do I get my membership ring and learn the secret handshake? ;) I agree with your point. When I run Pathfinder, I let my players handle their upgrade so long as they follow a hard gp limit that I've set for each level. I borrowed that from my RPGA days so that players who managed...

    Ashamed of being a Gamer?

I found you pit traders a different breed than us financial analysts. I use to work for a hedge fund and I agree that results is really all that mattered to those guys. However, I work for doctors and manage the financials of their research projects. A good deal of them never owned a TV because...

    Kanye the Giant

Actually, did any of you like DM's style of gamemastering? If I was playing, I would like my DM to be as eloquent as that.

    Kanye the Giant

Who keeps making these? These are getting really funny since Fear of Girls, Blood on the Dice, and others. I loved this.

"I don't like my Christmas present" -- do you enjoy getting treasure?

I think I'm in the original poster's camp.

Wizards of the Coast to reprint D&D 3.5

Cool! Though I liked 3.0 over 3.5 personally. High-level combat was scary! With haste, I had an incantatrix (a prc from FR) where I could get off 3 spells a round at times. Fun! ;) I'll pick them up if WotC prints them.

    My game room just swooned

For 14th level encounters, I'd have a marauding Inquisition of evil clerics and their servitor giants. Maybe a high-level lich leading his band of vampires or wraiths if you want the encounter at night. Several purple worms burrowing up from the ground could help. Really nice set Pirate Cat.

    Ashamed of being a Gamer?

My dad was in the Navy and he knew a ton of gamers in the military and that's how he got into it (I got into it from school).

    D&D 5E (2014) What Races for the 5E PHB

Yeah, I thought about the Flung Poo theme for the Man-Ape Genius, but decided to pass on it.

Dragon Age RPG and D&D Next - What are your Thoughts?

I like the Dragon Age game too. I read Set 1, but have still yet to buy Set 2. I can see D&D Next taking a page from DA or C&C from what I've read so far, but it's still too early to tell just how much.

    D&D 5E (2014) What Races for the 5E PHB

I'm going to roll up a Man-Ape Fat Guy. I'll equip him with a long-sharp stick and metal hurt-blocking armor. I wonder how many gold-like coin pieces I'll get with the Fat Guy class? ;)

D&D 5E (2014) So why are you buying 5th edition?

I'm buying 5e for collection purposes. If there is an official Chinese language version of it like there was for 4e, I'm picking that up too. I don't see myself switching per se; however, if 5e lends itself to strong compatibility with Pathfinder, then I can see myself looking at modules and...
