    Broken NDAs or Elaborate Trolls?

This is wisdom from a great wise man. Couldn't agree more.

    Broken NDAs or Elaborate Trolls?

STAB MORE FACES. Loved that comment! Makes me want to play a warlord.

Limited Resting and the Hour Long Rest

Yeah, the 15 minute workday was always something of a burr to me, but I never dealt with it because it happened in all the editions in that it's just something I've accepted similarly to just accepting hp without putting any logic to it. It's just always been that way. Anyhow, I would like to...

How should rules modules be organized?

Oni. Wow, you had to ask a really challenging question. Not really sure. I think I would want to be in the "surprise me" camp. But if I had to choose, maybe the optional rule sets would be in the DMG mostly with the exception to a few treatments like feats and skills and tactical combat (maybe...

    Will you mix playstyles?

I'm not sure I'd shoot the horse before it gets out of the gate. Let's see the rules first so we can see if having different playstyles is possible. While I'm cautious and reserved about the WotC's goals, I do wish WotC success in being able to pull it off.

What Makes a Truly Memorable Villain?

The villain I remember the most are the ones who constantly a thorn in the side, frustrating to fight, or were super-idiotic. In one campaign, we had this evil wizard pop up from time to time, hit us with a fireball, send his minions at us, and take off. Hated that guy. We never knew what his...

Bottle of wine and im schtill sober *hic*

I don't drink and I'm really aversive to alcohol. But I don't have problems with people who do. However, it's just one of those pet peeves of mine that drinking and gaming doesn't mix. I usually quit a game if I see people get snookered. Every game I've played where people got drunk has ended...

    D&D 5E (2014) Three Wishes for 5E

Here's my list of four things: 1. 36 levels. 2. With #1 being said, flatter scaling of power. 3. BECMI modularity on new rule sets. 4. More cow bell (okay, maybe it's just three things)

    Role-playing Games in Libraries

I used to play in a library as a kid, but the librarians back in those days didn't understand D&D and didn't want us using the tables to play games. I pretty much had to cancel playing because they would always threaten to kick us out. I think libraries nowadays are more open, particularly if...

When modern ethics collide with medieval ethics

I think in my case, the player who was playing a paladin just didn't "get it" and made some pretty poor choices in how paladins should act. He even went to trial over some of his petty and greedy behavior and was exiled from his order, but given a chance for atonement. And he did it twice. It's...

When modern ethics collide with medieval ethics

Yes, I've seen this too. Usually it involved paladins.

Adapting a Clone/ RPG for Kids

I like the art from Heroes of Hesiod. Makes me want to buy some plush toys of a beholder and bulette for my upcoming kid.

Evolution of a convention game: The Grindhouse (lotsa pics!)

Really nice. Like the spreadsheet a lot. Gave me some ideas.

When modern ethics collide with medieval ethics

It's very challenging to enforce a "cultural viewpoint" onto players who 1. don't understand it, or 2. don't want to understand it, or 3. think they understand it, but differ with the DM's understanding of it. It's actually hard to get players to remember anything that is "fluffy" in a campaign...

Spoilers: Some guy in Friends & Family playtest apparently violates his NDA

No way will I play 5e from this playtest!! :p Seriously, it was interesting read and it has my curiosity piqued though it would be nice if people don't break NDAs because they feel like it. Oh wait, it was a fake. Nevermind!

Should Organized Play Influence The Rules?

I'm in the camp where OP should come after the rules are pretty much already done. Unless you're doing open playtesting and plan on culminating the feedback after each slot, that's about as useful OP will be; however, it needs to be significant. Playing for just four hours isn't enough. Playing...

Do fantasy RPGs have to be fantasical?

I like having uber fantasy in my campaign like Eberron, FR, and Iron Kingdoms (my favorite in which steampunk and magic is works side-by-side). I can see where some gamers want magic, but don't want gonzo to go with it. Sometimes, I get a little tired of it too, but if magic is easy...

    Is random good?

Yes, definitely. I also loved WHFRP chargen system too. That was the one game where I would anything I rolled up no matter what it was. Even if I rolled up a weak camp follower, I'd play it--it was just that much fun.
