    Monte on Logic in RPGs

He got his start working for Iron Crown Enterprises working on Rolemaster. I think after ICE, he went to TSR though.

Black Box GMing - Would you play with it?

Nah, I would pass on this as a GM. I love putting in a lot of work into my campaigns, but I don't want to do it all. There'd definitely would be no way that I'd play this as a player.

Wow, I would love to get this.

What is exploration & why is it fun?

I always took exploration as a similarity of a sandbox campaign. The DM presents a world in which you travel around in it, explore it's environs, interacts with its people and menaces and have the freedom to go where you want. Mechanically, there are a myriad of ways to explain it, but one that...

    D&D 5E (2014) I Don't Like Damage On A Miss

I can predict with 100% certainty that D&D Next will inspire some, be reviled by others, and solve no Internet debates (maybe create some!).

Why I Think Rolling For Hit Points is a Bad Thing

I would only agree with the OP if the game is built on the assumption that requires X hp per level; however, I think the designers are definitely going with mean assumptions thus they expect a fighter who gets a d12 hit die to survive on 6.5 hp per level as opposed that the fighter should have...

    Lone Gamer Experience So Far

I'm running a probability file on Excel for my lone gaming experience. I'm looking for things like combat grind. I have a gaming group, but they've expressed zero interest in D&D Next.

The 88 Hit Point Ogre in the Room

I'm working on a probability file to see how long combats take given mean damage. At 1st level, a party of five characters will deal 28.08 (slightly more with the rogue's sneak in the 1st round) points of damage against AC 14 (the Ogre) while the Ogre will only deal 5.2 against a mean AC of 15...

    Dragonboobery - a character concept.

Ouch is right. I'd head for the exits on that campaign and just stay in the tavern and drink! :)

Western RPG Town Supplement (Can anyone give me the name?)

Are you thinking of Sidewinder? I played first edition but got second edition (that used the Modern d20 rules).

I think no matter what, there will always be nerdrage. ;)

What style of RPG Adventures do you prefer ?

I'm completely ambivalent about any of the styles so long as the GM is prepared. If we have a sandbox, give me a hook to go exploring and when I do, let me find something that's interesting and opens into other areas - similar to Grand Theft Auto. I can't say that I ever had a GM who did this...

    Alternate Accuracy Mechanics

Interesting. If you have one system where if player A wants to automatically do damage while player B has to roll for missing or critting, what situations call for this? Secondly, part of the drama of any game is that you will miss when you desperately need to hit (or be missed by the BBG)...

    What Makes a Good DM?

To me, the best DM's are the one who prepare. Preparation can enhance a lot of the other valuable skill sets in the OP. Lack of preparation makes for a boring game.
